StrawberryBlond 14,881
They are so close, it's unbelievable. When all put together, from 2010 - present, Katy has sold around 10.8 million albums and over 90 million singles. She has 9 US #1's, 3 US top 10's, 3 US top 20's, 1 US top 40 and 2 US top 100's. She has 12.4 billion video views over 14 videos. She has pulled in $292 million in touring sales thus far with 3 tours. When all put together, from 2010 - present, she had sold around 19 million albums and over 150 million single sales. She has 6 US #1's, 6 US top 10s, 3 US top 20's, 4 US top 40's and 6 US top 100's. She has 8.4 billion video views over 19 videos. She has pulled in well over $271 million with 3 tours. It's tough competition. They've got their own specialities. Rihanna has sold more singles and albums. Katy has more #1's. Rihanna has more top tens. Katy has more video views and has accumulated them over far less videos. I'm honestly surprised that Rihanna's only had 1 billion-viewed video in all these years (Work is about to become her second) and it isn't even a very highly viewed billion at that whereas Katy has 4 billion viewed videos, 2 of which have over 2 billion views each. With touring, it's an outright tie. It looks like Rihanna just edges it, primarily because she has more overall sales, which is the most important bit. And she's had success and cultural impact for longer and is still doing well, 13 years into her career whereas Katy's started falling on serious hard times just 9 years in. But the thing is, as far as I remember it, in all her era apart from Witness, Katy's always felt like the bigger artist, probably because she does a lot more promo.
