Miel 15,009
The song was a lot to take in. The video was also a lot to take in. The success of the song was backed up by a lot of hype, which I thought was very smart on her part. That said, it's kind of crazy to say that the song itself, whether you like it or not, was definitely a bit ahead of its time. There were cute empowerment songs, and then there was that song. Over time, the song is being much more appreciated in an academic and social context, in my opinion. As for the video? It's my favorite one of hers, but it's just a lot to take in, if you're not super interested in what all the imagery means. 3 points in and ready for more

Born this way peforming the best out of all her old singles after the superbowl shows how important this songs message is, it's uplifting and accepting for everyone, not just the LGBT community like some people act. Its not one of my favorite songs of her, but i'm so glad she took the risk and made a statement and decided it was more important to release that song and help people all over the world then just releasing another dance smash with generic lyrics about love sex or partying. Truly one of her songs that will go down in history .
LordEnigma 11,313
Where is this “BTW MV isn’t that good” vibe coming from? I love it to this day.
Impostor 4,114
I think its because of the long/weird introduction, and the video release was not all over the media, i remember i only watched it in full a year after the release

River 116,751
1. The song is gay so it's like against masculinity, so many straight guys who are not LM will not listen to it, even though they may like it.. 2. The high sales of BTW made a bit of bad impact, many people have the album on their iTunes so it's much more easier and quicker to listen to this song on iTunes, than to watch the video. 3. Unlike Alejandro, the intro is longer and until you get to the song, you are like, ugh just sing it already... none fans are not hear for her speeches.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
JohnnyVersace 9,002
Yeah I don't think that the GP was scared, I think they just didn't care tbh. The song was huge, but people weren't interested in her look/aesthetic. It was more about the music.
MillionMarkys 350
To be honest I'm not a fan of the video.
Salvador Sequea 813
I have watched the entirely Alejandro Intro like 5 times in the past seven years , the BTW intro is something I cannot skip . Is the Manifesto of Mother Monster cmon what's wrong with you guys ??
RocketNumberNine 610
Becuz video ıs so dark... I think the alien parts should be a little more.
AbraChromatica 339
Like a lot of you say, Alejandro was a huge hit but the video was also controversial. BTW was a big hit, but the video was too much for the GP. Most people would be like “what’s going on?” at the intro. I'm obsessively opposed to the typical... Moo 2,082
I think the intro goes over a lot of people’s heads, the goo scenes are very off-putting and the outfit + facial prosthetics during the main sequence make her look quite ugly, not to mention very bland. It’s a shame views are so low though. Jenifer Lopez’s On The Floor, which was an equally sized hit released at the same time, has well over 1B views
Laceface 2,964
Well BTW is more about the meaning and it's lyrics rather than the videography
