HOOTERS is getting Pro-Female With New CEO/Brand Mission

Call it a political move. Call it a business move. Call it a socially conscience move. But what you will call it...it is a smart move. 

Hooters, Inc. (known to many as HOOTERS) is a brand of sports bars across the globe that for many years has been plagued with misogyny, body shaming, and even perversion of young females. From it's word play on the upper female anatomy to even at some points rejecting applications from plus size women or trans women, the brand has been known for it's marginalization of those that are considered "not typically beautiful" in the same vein of Abercrombie & Fitch, which also went through some huge recent changes after it's Columbus, Ohio based CEO was voted out by his own staff for claims of racism and homophobia. 

But out with the old, and in with the new as HOOTERS CEO Terrance Marks has a new concept of the brand's future: girl power. Instead of a vibe where the female staff is at bay of the typical middle aged male customer looking to check out the chicks....the chicks are rolling out an entire new concept of a business that is all about the power of the ***. A place where no means no. And a place where women wear what they want, because they want to. They also are taking up on the #MeToo movement and creating crafty ways and new rules to make women feel more safe when they come into Hooters (because duh...believe it or not....GIRLS LIKE SPORTS, TOO!) It all started two Friday nights ago, when the company began this brilliant (and clever) new policy and asked all Hooters stores to place this in all of their women's restrooms:

 

What do you think about a former shaky brand turning their brand 180 to actually benefit the girls? Do you think this will bring them new and more business? And what other companies do you think could potentially embrace ideas like this to make risky spaces feel comfortable?

I personally thought this was a brilliant way to handle situations that is convenient, preventative, and even more pro-active than some of the more pro-liberal companies you see like Starbucks. It actually could help a female in a particularly dangerous situation without putting herself at risk in front of a potentially bad/angry date.

OMG we went there here in Costa Rica, we were not only shocked, but disgusted and felt so unconformable.

We felt so bad to the girls that works there that need to wear minimal clothes and to see guys drooling on them every single day!!

How the hell this place is still open?!!?

We stayed there 5 minutes and went away without ordering anything, this was a bit too much for us..

And not because we are gays, but because we have respect to our women and we can't give money to a place like this..
