MR would been huge but i kind of still want it to be the 2nd single with a superbowl peformance. I think A-Yo would been a hit as the lead, not a smash like her other leads but still alot betten then PI.

A-YO outside of the US would have bombed harder than PI+GUY COMBINEDT

I think the fact that MR struggled and kinda was always here without being the HIT everyone talked about made it a song that people appreciate on the long term

Nothing. A YO is too american and I don't see anything else being the lead single except Perfect Illusion.

A-Yo would have been a perfect mix of “wow, she’s changed” and “this is fun to dance and sing along to.”

I feel like Perfect Illusion was just too heavy - the content is about a broken, devestating end to a  relationship and the chorus lacks pop radio strength. I really think this song should have been an album cut (BTW, I ****ing love this song).

I think the singles should have been A-Yo for fall, Million Reasons for winter, John Wayne for Spring,  Dancin’ In Circles for Summer and end the era off with Joanne (piano version).

But I’m glad we got Joanne - it kind of took awhile to really sink in but once it did, it really touches the soul 💕

There's no lead single material single on the album, it's all too different from what was being successful at the time... Million Reasons' success is because of the Super Bowl :S

Oh so Sinner’s Prayer as the lead? :laughga:

I swear someone probably made a thread saying sinner prayer should’ve been the lead or should be a single

A double A-Side single, Million Reasons (a personal heartbreak song with religious themes) and Dancin' In Circles (a BOP :lolly:), to (kinda) represent the concept of the album
Mariah, Beyonce, Madonna and Rihanna have done it before

Million Reasons was best as second single. John Wayne I like as a single but I feel like it would've been dragged and disappointing as the lead single. Diamond Heart is as loud as Perfect Illusion if not louder. Dancin in Circles as the lead off of Joanne would have just been a mess. The only options were Perfect Illusion and A-YO.

I still have yet to hear a negative thing about PI from the GP, all my GP friends love it and ask me to play it if I'm playing Gaga. A-YO is well liked by my GP friends as well. It's catchy, "smoking them all" would've been iconic, and Gaga loved performing it so she hopefully would've done considerable promo for it. Perfect Illusion still could've done well had it been promoted properly and treated as an official single rather than a promo single but Gaga obviously just didn't like it as much as MR, A-YO, or JW, all of which got more promo than PI in the US

1. A-YO - September 2016

2. Million Reasons - November 2016

3. John Wayne - April 2017

4. The Cure - Release after Coachella as gift to Sonja and fans, radio release in June with music video/ promo.

5. Dancin In Circles - August 2017
