I personally preffer BEYONCÉ. It's much more honest and relatable imo, while still making statements.

I think a person who has never listened to Lemonade would think that it's a very political album, but really...that's not the truth. Most of the album talks about her husband cheating on her and their relationship, and the only political songs would be Freedom, Formation and Forward the last one being more of an interlude.

I also think self titled has a more timeless sound without trying to recreate an old sound, but by creating its own. Isn't it one of the first mainstream albums that had those weird animal/bloodpop-ish noises? :poot: It's also got less writers than Lemoande.

Just to make sure, I compared them (with my own personal tracklist for both of course :lolly:)

Pretty Hurts vs Pray You Catch Me

Haunted vs Hold Up

Drunk In Love vs Sorry

Blow vs Don't Hurt Yourself

Partition vs 6 Inches

Rocket vs Daddy Lessons

Jealous vs Love Drought

Mine vs Sandcastles

7/11 vs All Night

***Flawless vs Forward

XO vs Formation

Blue vs Freedom

I've never listened to Lemonade, but I enjoyed Beyoncé (and since I don't really like Beyoncé's music, it's a big deal for me).

The only song I've heard from Lemonade is All Night and it's one of my favourite songs from her, so I don't know :ohno:

All Night is arguably the best song on the album so yeah :lolly:

All Night, Sorry and Freedom are the top3 from Lemonade imo

A song doesn’t need to say political things to be political. Just for the fact that Beyoncé is openly talking about her fails and how she got strength from that makes it a very political album. Especially as a black woman.

Tbh I don’t know how to choose between the two. I think Lemonade for the full body of work.

This is hard I just can't :saladga:

What I can say is that without self-titled, we wouldn't have any Lemonade :classy:

To me there's a Beyoncé pre-selftitled and post-selftitled  :gaysia:

They’re both in my top 5 favourite albums of all time, but Lemonade is my favourite ever, so that’s my choice.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Yes hun, a song needs to talk about a social/political cause or issue to be political, look it up

BEYONCÉ is definitely what you call a self-titled album, it shows every aspect of her.

Lemonade, a long with its film, tells a story with a lot of genres combined.

I'd say Self-titled is better but why can't we have both

BEYONCÉ by far. Lemonade's film is good, but the music feels pretty meh.

No it doesn't For example: being a drag queen is a political act. In a world where masculinity is toxic there are men who dare to dress up as women and mock people's precious identity. A drag queen doesn't need to say "**** Trump" to be political. Just her being what she is and doing what she does is already a political act.

The same with Lemonade. Beyoncé is empowering black women while there's still racism and sexism in America. If that's not a political act I don't know what is.
