More than anyone else, him being a shitty person is kind of the worst for me. I mean, he has always been a little problematic in his work, but still. It's one complicated and pretty specific case.... I'll just say that times were different in 1977, times were different in 2003, and they're still different now - I'm not sure Tarantino would defend Polanski so vehemently today. You know those moments when you're defending a friend, and doing so you try to convince yourself your friend is innocent? I think that's what was mostly happening there. All in all, I believe QT is a decent guy and I have 0 doubt about that. Not to mention he's written some of the ballsiest and most empowering female roles of modern cinema - I'm not sure there's a director today who loves actresses more than he does. So for people saying his cinema is misogynistic, I mean.... buy yourselves a brain and basic analytical skills.

Times weren't so different in 1997 that people thought pedophilia and child molestation was okay. People in 1997 didn't think giving a 13 year old girl pills and booze and then having sex with her was no big deal... More than this interview, I've been more upset over his carelessness when it came to the safety of Uma Thurman, it contributed to her crash and he has admitted so himself. His history of choking and spitting on his actresses is also pretty disturbing and it was very disappointing when he admitted 'he knew enough to do more than I did' when it came to Harvey Weinstein. Tarantino ignored Daryl Hannah’s complaints when she was harassed by Harvey Weinstein. They kicked her off the press tour He contributed to violence against women and he contributed to a culture in which men like Harvey Weinstein could behave as they wished. That's what's disappointing. Even now he wants to make a film with Polanski: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/quentin-tarantino-roman-polanski-manson-family-murders-film-release-date-sharon-tate-leonardo-a8190566.html He's a brilliant, visionary writer/director - but personally he's had some pretty major faults. That J 12,166
Here's my thoughts on this... I don't care if you are GOD, if you do something that is out of line, you deserve to be accounted for. Roman's problem is he thinks he has paid a debt for his crime. And yes it was a crime. He fled the country due to it and stayed gone. But he's relentlessly praised by the majority of Hollywood and other pop culture circles. Yes he is very talented at his job. But should the master carpenter be praised if they did the same thing? It is stature over decency and that's the huge part of problem. Quentin is not the first or last to try and justify that man's actions. Why would anyone want that blood on their hands? Makes no sense to me. I have nephews and nieces and cousins who have MANY friends so I know 13 year olds and not sexually anything, they have no clue what shirt they want to wear on the daily much less who they want to go to bed with. THEY DONT DO THAT ANYWAY! Sure ya have some that grow up different. I can' t speak to what I don't know. However, so many seem to think this culture is so sexed up so our kids already know everything. Well, the majority don't and they are highly naive and sensitive and wish to do well and be good and the idea of a grown person taking advantage of that for their own pleasure is THE most evil act on this planet. It just is. So, I don't think anyone who uses children...even just once...gets a pass. Neither do those who justify it. Sex is intimate and rape is intimate and it's a bind that connects forever. He did that. And others can sweep it under the rug all day long but I know better and so do they. Much love. ShockPop 7,747
When I was 13 all the girls I knew were sleeping with older guys. It wasn't rape just because of their age, it was just promiscuous girls being promiscuous. 13 is an age where you know what you're doing. It's not rape it's underaged sex. Rape is against their will regardless of how the state wants to police what people can and cannot permit due to their age.

I wouldn't think that 13 year old girls having sex with older guys would be normal or a good idea. Not all 13 yr olds are completely aware of how manipulative adult men can be. It can be rape and underaged sex depending on the case. Either way we look at this story it's not very good.

Is not right, is not legal, but is not rape either. Sorry, the law disagrees with you. A minor is incapable of consenting to an adult. And in this particular case, there was booze and pills involved. An intoxicated person can further not. Check out iTunes data & graphs at CHARTPOP.live

However, are you really going to defend the law's ability to decide whether or not you may speak for yourself & choose for yourself? Because that is rape. Uh uh - protecting minors from the manipulation is rape? Minors are not independent people. There are MANY decisions they are not allowed to make for themselves. It's not just sex. And like everything else, guardians can allow it. Would you also say that not allowing 13 year olds to drink or not allowing them to buy property is rape? Minors can speak for themselves but it's not exactly a conversation between equals when you're dealing with an adult especially a 45 year old. People are manipulative and this is more common than you realize. Check out iTunes data & graphs at CHARTPOP.live
