Let's watch Trump try to explain this. He bragged about how the AA unployment record low meant he was for the black community and the Dems aren't.

This post is misleading af.

Not to defend Trump, but it makes us look bad when you post part of the story and the not the whole story....which further gives ammo to republicans to later fire back at us.

A: Unemployment went up for everyone in the month of January.

B: Black unemployment went down to a record low during the past year. That's fact. And it hit the lowest it has ever hit in decades this year. That is a republican achievement. Especially considering much of the far left said the economy would crash within the first months of his presidency.

C: Yes black unemployment had been slowly on the decline the past 7 years, but this was the first year it had gone down over a full percentage point. The unemployment rate among the black community was very slowly improving during the Obama years. And that's because of multiple factors involving the corporate tax rate, what kind of businesses were at an advantage, and the ridiculous expenditures of the stimulus packages that saw little results to long-term improve the economy.

D: This is completely normal. The unemployment rate always spikes in January because many people become employed with seasonal holiday jobs that then expire after the holidays.

E: Despite spiking, the black unemployment rate is still lower than it ever was during the Obama Administration. It's ticked back up at 7.7%. The lowest it ever hit was 7.8% during Obama.

If you want the receipts, I used factcheck.org which is completely unbiased.

What wasn't posted? The AA unemployment did rise almost a full point after the president bragged over and over again that it was at record lows under him.

Read my points. Go to factcheck.org

It will rebalance out in the spring and go to the low 7s/high 6's again. Watch. It's freaking January. January is always the worst month for this. Anyone with an Intro to Economics course under their belt knows that.

Finally someone competent. I feel like so many people on this site use parts of facts to attack Trump and the rest fall in line. Like he’s doing a pretty good job economically. When did politics become so vial. It shows how sensitive the state of the world is. People need to grow back some skin. Goddamn

As an economist I hate this article

You’re talking about unemployment trends between two months... that’s like nothing lol

That number, which is less useful than most think, can be revised next quarter - and it usually only useful when looked at over a quarter anyways.

Ppl complain he makes up facts

Ppl on this site aren't any better if by sensationalizing stories, leaving out details etc with the intention to attack him, that misleads people just as much as he misleads them even if they don't technically lie like him... The intent and result is the same

I'm not a Trump supporter but we can't be hypocrits

Nobody here pays attention to other aspects of employment tho like:

- Hours (full-time vs part-time)

- Labor Force Participation Rate

- Average hourly wages as well as wage growth

- Benefits included in Jobs

People just look at unemployment rate like that is what explains the state of economy. By that measure the US economy is as strong as ever. By other other measures it's only doing so-so still
