Guest theFuture
^ mattyh I'd have to disagree. Gaga is actually kind of a media darling. Which is great. But Madonna is one of THE most hated women by the press, partially more intensified because of her age. Scathing left and right with her, always. To quote off the piece by Larry Womack for the Huffington Post: Hating Madonna has been an international sport for decades now, but I seem to remember a higher class of criticism in the past -- and that's saying something. It even seemed to go away for a while, until she decided to get all old in our faces.
mattyh1989 0
^ mattyh I'd have to disagree. Gaga is actually kind of a media darling. Which is great. But Madonna is one of THE most hated women by the press, partially more intensified because of her age. Scathing left and right with her, always. Not recently, except for Nipplegate at the tour. And if she's getting bad press and bad reactions from people, it's because she's perpetuating the M/Gaga feud, which is something that quite frankly needs to be let go of and die. I just hate the double-standard of what we can criticize Gaga for, but we can't criticize Madonna for. It just gets on my NERVES and really is quite straining as a fan of both artists. Illuminati Freak 2,432
Quote from my Mom, no joke. "Madonna is picked on by the press because she's always been a royal **** and ***** not because of her age." I can't even at my Mother. P.S. she stans for GaGa. craig 680
When Gaga is picked on it comes off as very unjust because she is so sweet. Especially in early 2011, it just seemed pure jealousy and trumped up double standards. Madonna actually says and does stuff to piss people off. Farmboy 0
Madonna actually says and does stuff to piss people off. Unlike releasing Judas on Easter.

Not to say that it doesn't exist, cause it surely does. A lot of my criticisms as of late is that she (except for the tour) has lost the passion that used to go into each and every project of hers. MDNA is LIFELESS. It sounds like with the right computer equipment and producers, I could have made that album. Add to the fact that her attitude has been wearing on me as of late, and yet I'm being reminded that she's "The Queen" left and right by rabid fans. Not to say that she hasn't accomplished a lot or is undeserving of that title, but to have to be constantly pounded and criticized when questioning certain decisions or reactions of hers is EXTREMELY frustrating and has left me feeling, quite frankly, disenfranchised. mattyh1989 0
Now imagine the uproar if Madonna said something like that about Gaga. Imagine the uproar if someone close to Gaga said that. Look at all the criticisms DJWS got from fans. You can't have it both ways, as much as you want to.

I agree with some of the criticisms toward MDNA - I really love only a good half of MDNA. However, most of the criticism against Madonna, you'll find, isn't about the music. mattyh1989 0
Unlike releasing Judas on Easter. That is a REALLY poor comparison. I agree with the criticisms toward her music - I really love only a good half of MDNA. However, most of the criticism against Madonna, you'll find, isn't about the music. No it's about her attitude as of late, just as I mentioned. And to be frank, I agree with those criticisms, it sucks.

Farmboy 0
Yes, let's just forget this argument for now. I actually look forward to a time when Madonna and Lady Gaga can coexist and this war can be over with. I'm sure in their respective next eras it will be forgotten.
