BB lowkey shades Gaga’s Grammys performance

It was a typically diverse and dazzling set of performances at the 60th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Jan. 27), ranging from Broadway tributes to #MeToo moments to long-awaited team-ups to, uh, Sting solo singles from 1988.

A lot to take in, of course, but in case you missed any of 'em -- or need help sorting out your feelings about all that you witnessed -- here's Billboard's ranking of the 20 performances from music's biggest night, from least to most essential.

13. Lady Gaga, "Joanne" / "Million Reasons"

An undoubtedly powerful performance of Gaga doing what she does best -- well, one of the things, anyway. She began with a verse and chorus of her gorgeous solo piano rendition of the recently stripped-down "Joanne," before offering a relatively context-free "time's up," and pivoting to Super Bowl-blessed power ballad "Million Reasons." It would've probably been a stronger performance if she'd just stuck with the full "Joanne" -- we've heard "Reasons" at enough of these things already, and it's not like it was a particularly major Grammy nominee -- but still hard to argue with Stefani and 88 keys when she goes full torch song.

It's not really a shade I think most people didn't rate it as the highlight of the night unfortunately.

The performance was fine. Solid and impressive enough, but not a stand out of the night. My biggest issue was her vocals sounded a bit off--like her voice wasnt properly warmed up/agile.

I think it was more about making sure that Million Reasons was "part of Grammy history" with a live performance. The Grammy performances are remembered in a higher regard than most other award shows. When people look back on 2016-2018 thirty or forty years from now, it's likely they'll never watch old AMA or SNL clips, but they will watch old Grammy performances. So I think the MR selection was less about what would entertain us "today" versus what needed to be done to add to her overall Grammy legacy.

But I wholeheartedly agree, the more immediately entertaining choice would've been the full Joanne.

Judging how Million Reasons is back in the Top 30 and while other nominees are nowhere to be found, they‘re objectively wrong.

Also lmao @ calling them Stefani as if they know her. Sounds like a coke-snorting GGDler or ATRLer who wants TFMga wrote this

Shade? It is precisely what her own fans have been saying :laughga: after the Joanne Piano Version, no one was really expecting Million Reasons. And it's understandable, performing Joanne would have no impact by now. Performing Million Reasons, on the other hand, is one more way of reassuring that a ballad becomes one of her signature songs.

She still oversang the whole thing. Joanne Piano Version is one of her best because of her soft vocals.

I was hoping for a full Joanne performance, or a Joanne/Joanne track other than MR medley. But I can’t complain. This was easily her best MR performance. She had so much control in her voice and that choir :diane:

Religion is a product to sell.

I kind of agree that the performance would've been more enjoyable if it was Joanne start-to-finish. It was a great performance, it just felt like Joanne was merely an opening for Million Reasons.
