I think you're missing all of the women, LGBTQ, black, hispanic, latino, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, disabled, abled, etc people in this country that have endured decades/centuries of hate and bias as well as being shamed into thinking they're the reason why America isn't "great". If you want to go after Hollywood, cool. That's your political fetish. But if you really cared about shaming and "cruel place" then you also have to take a look into all people. 

Truthfully, we all could do a little more to help out our neighbors.

@Chic I love you but you really need to be careful with these sardonic posts of yours. They can easily be taken the wrong way and give a really bad impression for those who don't know you. I'm all for a bit of dark humour and sarcasm but this issue is very sensitive and I feel it should be handled as such. Some things just don't sound right when laid down like that.

I think the refugee crisis recently has got a lot of people worried, whether we're talking about legal immigration or not. Americans are seeing what's happening in Europe and don't want it happening to them. While I'm pro-immigration myself, I do think it needs far stricter control. I think open door policies and letting people move here for no other reason than they want to is having disastrous consequences. There is evidence of literal people smuggling in Europe - hundreds of Africans, primarily Libyans, being transported to Italy by dinghy, back and forth, all day. They aren't refugees and the majority of them certainly aren't women, children and families. The majority of them are grown men who just want to escape their country, don't want to integrate with the locals in the country they've moved to, not get jobs and generally be a drain on society. Some are even rioting in the streets, causing chaos, leaving destruction in their wake and most heartbreakingly, assaulting the local women. In the past, I would have been a strong denier of these claims. Until I saw the undeniable evidence of it. And when I see evidence, it doesn't matter that I'm a liberal. Evidence is evidence and we've got to face up to facts. Immigration is all well and good when it's controlled and not taken to extremes. I don't support Trump's take on it but the public's fears are rooted in something genuine.

Hollywood is a mess however many of these celebs are liberal so they will obviously express liberal and progressive leaning views. 

Trump won because of many factors such as economics and perception, racism, nationalism, the natural swing of power that has been going on in the US for a while. Perhaps a scandal ridden Democrat candidate. So many things. 

I personally don’t think Hollywood is THAT influential to the point people are basing their votes based on what Hollywood thinks. Hollywood sided with most Americans anyway.

If you vote for someone like Trump, who is misogynistic, homophobic and racist just because you want to punish hollywood, you are not angry, you are stupid.

Let's all agree that what you said was not in Trump's head when he said the "shithole" country speech. He's not smart enough to know about the issues in Libya.

 The problem is that a far majority of people coming from Africa and Caribbean countries are good people who want a chance at a better life. I.e. my siblings.... I find it very troubling that you'd place all Africans together to form your concerns about immigration. Are Europeans going to have to be careful of the KKK Americans? 

We aren't talking about smuggling/illegal immigration here. We're talking about not wanting anyone from any African country.

They never wanted "legal" immigration, they don't want brown people coming into our country because they vote democrat and apparently chip away at white sovereignty.

It''s hypocritical, its xenophobic, its racist, and its evil. And its reality. Trump basically said this himself a few weeks ago if I'm not correct. They just actually don't want so called foreigners coming here. Republicans will do everything in their power to hold onto this white, racist majority, even as the numbers tip out of their favor. First its "Illegal immigration is destroying out country! Multiculturalism is a plague on American culture!" then its "Foreigners from other countries won't assimilate! They come to our country for a free check, take advantage of our privileges, and then commit crimes like rape women, steal, and kill"

It's almost too transparent tbh. And its happening all over the world, not just in America.

Ofc, these are ideas that are spun out of slight truths. Most people are not fundamentally opposed to immigration as a concept, and are not fully racist and xenophobic. If a latina woman wants to immigrate to America for work or to become a citizen, the average person doesn't believe she shouldn't be able to. However, those in power want to remain in power, so they spin tales of culture war, violence, and exaggerate stereotypes, reframe issues, etc. in order to pick at that grain of racism and xenophobia the average American DOES contain.

Hence the discrepancy between the average (mostly white) American that says "I am not racist!" but openly and proudly supports racist policy. They don't see it as racist, even when it is.

look hard enough and you will find similar settings within the USA, unless it is even worse because you'll see rich people walk by it everyday and turn a blind eye. If you go to Haiti you will find that people there are at least willing to help eachother and are trying to make their lives better.

Are you American? Because our voting system for president is through the electoral college system. Trump won that. Hillary won the popular vote by more than 3 million votes.
