joanoflark 3,824
My favorite movies this year are: Dunkirk: I thought it was such a touching film, it made me weep. Call Me By Your Name: it made me weep too, I just love movies that wreck me, I tend to find grief beautiful, especially the grief of love, it made me feel bad about myself too, on one part because I'm stil waiting for my first love and on the other, because I'm inspired by young talented artists like Timothée and the idea of not achieving my dreams kills me. Get Out: I just found it creepy, because it deals with the ugly side of humanity, and that sh!t scares me a lot. Like how evil a man can be, and how we might be oblivious to that because the bad guy is so cunning and seemingly good. Its take on racism is very innovative I think, and it being a "horror" movie makes it incredibly capable of affecting the audiences and make them reflect on where they stand in terms of issues such as racism. Raw: I don't know what to say about it except that it's genius. Like Get Out, it managed to invade my psyche and make me uneasy, while also challenging me to think. I haven't seen as many films this year as I usually do partly because I'm depressed, partly because I value the cinematic experience so much so that I want it to be special every time and not become trivial. It was always obvious some of the films I listed never really stood a chance at the Oscars, but I thought they were quite deserving.
