Camila Cabello debuts atop the Billboard 200 chart with her first solo effort, Camila, earning 119,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Jan. 18, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 65,000 were in traditional album sales. Cabello is the first woman in three years to hit No. 1 with her debut full-length album.

 

Cabello is the first woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her debut full-length album in three years – since Meghan Trainor’s Title (also on Epic) opened atop the list dated Jan. 31, 2015. (Trainor had a previous EP, also named Title, which reached No. 15.) If we count all initial chart appearances by women (including EPs), Cabello is the first woman to top the list with her first overall charting effort since Ariana Grande bowed at No. 1 with her first full-length album — and chart debut — Yours Truly on Sept. 21, 2013.

Many "newcomers" smash hard but don't last because their songs were so huge they overshadowed the artists themselves. Gaga got away with it because her eccentricity was even bigger than JD and PF.

I mean she's already had 3 hits:

I Know What You Did Last Summer was a decent sized hit

Bad Things was big

Havana was one of the biggest songs of 2017 and will be one of the biggest of 2018

and Never Be The Same is shaping up to be a hit with it doing well on iTunes and being receptive to promo, growing on streaming, and getting radio support.

 

Plus Camila no doubt has a great team. She's here to stay and she deserves it

I don't think IDSB would have made things better tbh, just look what happened to Ready For It  

End Game was one of the last chances she had to save this era from oblivion due to its trendy sound (and also the feat with Future and Ed), but it seems the GP is not interested this time.

Delicate is her last chance imo

Yeah now that I think about it pretty sure the GP is already tired of her 'oh look at me trying to be badass and not give a **** about anything and anyone' image so it would have flopped anyway  but the video would have been way cooler and could have helped A LOT

The only thing that can save this era now, as you said it sis, is Delicate or some of the other 'nice' songs on the album such as King Of My Heart or Getaway Car
