What are those numbers? Is that the annual tax cut? Also $180????? You must mean the bonus right cuz the wage would of gone up more than that

Yes, the one time bonus. The pool for that fund is only 400 million.

It’s an 18 billion dollar cut over 10 years, should have clarified. The cut this year alone is going to be around 1.3 billion.

Still... we all already knew the majority of the money would stay at the top and not tricke down but thats what Trump chose to do :neyde:

if at least a little bit does thats great

i honestly thought the only benefit to average person would be better RSP performance for their retirement due to better stock performance and a few more jobs as companies can invest a little more quickly

I didnt expect any raises at all so if even a fraction of tax cuts trickle down at least thats something tbh

Where?

Min wage here is 12, Trader Joes pays 15... Bristol Farms 13... Whole Foods 13

Trump projects that min wage here will be 15 by 2020.

Walmart is a horrible company. They are worth trillions and have no reason not to pay $15 an hour for minimum like GAP and Banana Republic

They would end up chargingg more for their products tho if they paid that much

would u as a consumer be prepared to pay more? If so then ur not a hypocrite

Also I dont think they are worth trillions are they??? The highest valued market cap was apple up till at least a few years ago and it did not hit the $1 Trillion mark not by long shot. Im basing this off a list i saw years ago tho it may be outdated

I don't shop at RapeMart. I've seen enough documentaries and heard personal experiences of how they are.

But they really wouldnt have to raise prices for such a small amount LOL

Just like AT&T let people go while announcing bonuses.

What will be interesting is if he workers are actually worse off if they make too much to qualify for benefits.

Also, this article from Furtune is truly fascinating. The most interesting quote:

"First, it has already been raising wages, and began doing so well before the corporate tax cut passed. It first did so in a well-publicized move in early 2015, when it raised its minimum wage to $9 an hour. In 2016, it followed up with another increase to $10. The current increase simply continues a trend it started three years ago."

So basically, Walmart has been raising their wages a dollar year for a few years now.

They would actually.

They have 1.4 Million employees in USA... a $4/h hike to $15/h assuming average employee works 28 hours would be as follows

1.4M X $4 X 28 hours X 52 weeks

= $8.15 Billion a year

if you exclude a small percentage of workers higher up the ladder like managers, corporate administrators etc that already make more, youd still easily be looking at over $7 Billion a year im increased wages

Thats not counting stuff like payroll taxes

It would be a bigger expense than ur making it out to be

Used to, good for you :deadbanana:

Well, Portugal is an amazing country, don't get me wrong. It's the "coolest destination in the world" according to recent travelling magazines, there's a lot of life and things to do, it's one of the most beautiful countries I've seen full of cultures, amazing food, and Lisbon is probably the most soulful capital there is. And fair enough, our lifestyle is still very cheap compared to other countries. And we're one of the safest countries.

But our economy sucks. We are not paid enough and things are starting to get more and more expensive. Job opportunities are not very good and unless you have a really good degree (like medical degree), rich parents or work in a huge company, you'll struggle, A LOT.

But you know, if you happen to get a really good job here, that's well paid, you can't find a better place.

Omg this ^^^^^^^^ I miss Portugal so much... the food!!! The party lifestyle!!!! The mountain scenes!!!! The Cafes!!!!

It has less culture variety than Canada and less variety of stuff to try available from around the world but excluding that Portugal was better in every other way!

I lived in a village 20km or so from the city of Coimbra and there was so much to do in that entire region its crazy!!! Its been 16 years since I moved to Canada but Ive gone back to visit a few times

The economy is the only reason id never go back. And the terrible slow public healthcare. Money is just an issue there and I wouldnt feel secure thats the only problem

Mas as comidas nos restaurantes Americanos cá no Canadá são uma porcaria autentica em comparação com boms restaurantes Portugueses
