Does Trump has double standards? Yes. But the point here is about knowing if they defame him or not. Trump isn't suing Buzzfeed. Michael Cohen is suing on behalf of himself. Trump isn't going to sue anyone. He's too guilty and scummy to go through the discovery process. A lawsuit would expose far more in the discovery process than the article did in the first place. Also it's well deserved. Half a journalistic work is to check the veracity of their sources. If they posted fake news in order to libel someone it's completely normal that they're sued. Now Justice will do its work, investigate and give its answer It wasn't fake news though. The information in the dossier had been gathered by a well respected MI6 intelligence officer and the FBI was gathering the same information at the time. Intelligence agencies in the US have deemed the majority of information to be correct thus far. Also, because this is a matter of public concern and Cohen is a public figure, he must also show that the defendants acted with actual malice (knowledge of the statement's falsity or reckless disregard to whether it was false). The actual malice standard isn't satisfied even if the defendant unreasonable fails to investigate claims. Here, Buzzfeed and Fusion GPS have a defense that this was a matter of public concern and therefore, the publication of the dossier doesn't constitute defamation. Given the judicial preference for a robust free speech framework, it's highly unlikely that Cohen would prevail.

I wasn't taking side or telling the article was fake or not. My "well deserved" was from Trump's point of view, he thins he was libelled and they try something in court. That's something normal and not "dictator abuse" like the post I quoted said. I hope I made it somehow clearer
