That doesn't lead her exactly into country music thought...

But this genre wasn't also really new to Gaga, as we have BTW Country Road Version, Stuck On ****in' You, the whole concept of Yoü and I and even a country moment during the Swinefest at SXSW - maybe ASIB was the eureka moment...

@PunkTheFunk where chronologically Gaga's Malibu house is located? It look a big part in her transition into Joanne

She bought her Malibu mansion around Oct 2014

At the same time, she's in talks to star in Barbra Streisand's remake of the musical Gypsy, which I imagine she was extremely excited about. She meets with Streisand in Aug 2015, and in Oct 2015 we get a few articles that confirm this rumor. After the C2C era Gaga is in a perfect head space to star in a musical and sing Broadway showtunes.

I am still genuinely gutted about this. I really thought she would bag two major film roles in such a short space of time! :triggered:

Have we heard anything else about the Gypsy project at all? Because it's been absolutely ages since we heard anything on this :saladga:

I doubt it's happening tbh. The last we heard about it was in Aug 2016 when the distributors and co-financiers pulled out :selena:

But I need a Gaga/Barbra collab so badly :cryga:

Nice observation, i wouldn’t say a 100 percent true but i cannot deny that it probably made her change her mind.

I mean joanne was basically made in 2016 so it didn’t take her that long, it felt like a last minute thing

I think it definitely could have been a big factor, but not the only factor.

I think with Bowie dying, her engagement dying, and Sonja getting more sick, really changed her headspace to make Joanne as a passion project.

I agree. I also think the Super Bowl, which is directed at 100 million Americans, was a big factor in making Joanne a country-inspired album. Country is obviously a big genre in the states and I think she wanted to reach a much larger demographic, knowing that lots of people unfamiliar with her music would buy her album straight after her half-time show.

I'm really curious to know where her music will go after Joanne. I think her Vegas show will be a huge influence. I can imagine that show being camp as Christmas, so she will probably want to make commercial music that works with that. I can't see her doing another ARTPOP and alienating her new fans. But I definitely see it being more ARTPOP than Joanne, especially as it looks like DJWS is producing it.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

I don't know why, but I really think that the description of LG6 as "ARTPOP's little sister" will be quite accurate. It just seems so fitting to shift into an ARTPOP-like new era after C2C, Joanne and ASIB ... I don't know why ...
