RAMROD 117,010 Posted January 5, 2018 Share Posted January 5, 2018 A 29-year-old engineer was reportedly kidnapped and forced to marry a woman at gunpoint in Bihar, East India. The video clips from the wedding show Vinod Kumar, a junior manager at Bokaro Steel Plant, dressed as a groom, being thrashed and forced to perform wedding rituals in Patna's Pandarak area. As he begs to be released and continues to cry for help, a group of women, allegedly from the woman's family, try to convince him to cooperate. In a regular social marriage where the groom is an Engineer with a good job, the bride's family would to pay crazy amounts of dowry. In cases like OT the bride's family fight one social injustice (dowry) by committing another (abduction and forced marriage). The demand and payment of dowry are prohibited under Indian Penal Code.
