As much as I know she loves us gays, I don’t think she should risk her own life for it. They literally can't do anything. She's not russian, she's a worldwide superstar. She'd be overprotected by her team. I mean the one who get hurt are the anonymous russians protesting in their village. Nothing happened to her during her Russian show in Moscow, with much more provocative words, at a time where the light weren't over her as much as they would be for the world cup (no one except fans were following her tour). She was much more vulnerable then than she would be now, given the circumstances. Russia won't do anything as they have nothing to win if they do. And that's why Gaga's has to do something if she performs, she'd be the person with the most power to change things if she has a mic in the middle of that stadium broadcasted worldwide

Addison Rae 16,718
that’s a quick way to start a war and get our girl killed sis the people watching won’t want to hear any political discussion. I’m here for Gaga speaking on issues but I don’t want her kidnapped and jailed by the Russian government sitting on his lap sipping diet pepsi

Joanne Monster 959
She won't do anything political if she indeed performs there. The organizers will make her swear on her blood that she'll keep politics out of her performance. If she breaks this promise the backlash will be MASSIVE. Remember that majority of the world's population are homophobes who think propaganda can make their children gay. She won't change their minds and might actually spur waves of homophobic hysteria around the world. I'm not sure if it's worth it. Russia government won't do anything to her though, they're not that stupid.

Her team can't do shxt if Russia decides to barred her from leaving their soil because of what she said or done that is against the law while there. Gaga and her team are only visitors who are bound and succumbed to the law that takes place locally. It is just general thing to know, look at how those Middle East countries arresting Western tourists for some silly stuffs, but actually punishable by law over there. Example: that British guy who brushed his hand against local guy's hip No matter who you are and what you do, when you are not in your own country, you are vulnerable and expected to follow the local law or face consequences. They kidnap, kill... when they know no one will notice it. I mean, if they kidnap Gaga, we all know how bad the world would be stumbling. + : it's not a enough of a reason to kidnap her. + : it's not in their interest AT ALL. They won't win anything doing this. They do kidnap/kill people TO PUT SOME ISSUES UNDER SILENCE. HOWEVER IF THEY KIDNAP/HURT GAGA IT WOULD POINT OUT THE ISSUE EVEN MORE AS SHE IS THE MOST PUBLIC PERSON IN THE WORLD
Leeo 2,366
When you're a "foreign" you still have rules to follow. They can, yes, arrest her or, in a "lighter scenario", they can sue her. But it's like, a worlwide scandal and that's the thing. And also, the criticism around her. Remember when people enjoyed super bowl because "she left politics out of it". It's not the place, it's not the time.

I understand. Your point is right if you talk about a regular guy. 'No matter who you are' : NO, it's sad (or good in our case), but IT DOES matter. Russia won't do anything if that happens, because it's not in their interest AT ALL. They have nothing to win over this. If they do, they will face HUGE insurgence and pressure from everyone. + it will shed light on the LGBT problem EVEN MORE. They won't do anything if that happens. Once was about politics. (and I think she did good leaving politics aside) This one is about human rights. (and I think it would be a mistake not mentioning the persecuted LGBT) She would face even more criticism saying she's a hypocrite performing for a country bashing the rights she promoted during all of her life

That's why she shouldn't perform. How you want to point out politics as it wasn't human rights?? People don't like Trump because of his actions againsn't humans in general. This woman was on the other day creating polls on twitter with "would you fight with kindness or violence" do you really think she would go to Russia create a shitstorm and then leave in peace... Easy 5,305
I think a better way would be her also perform Born This Way or Come To Mama instead of making an explicit statement.
Easy 5,305
And I think doing a World Cup song isn’t about celebrating the hosting country, it’s more about celebrating soccer right? If not they would have asked a Russian native this time or African native instead of Shakira before. So i don’t really see the hypocrisy if Gaga do this gig, she can literally promote kindness, equality with a festive song made for the world’s soccer fans and also promote the message she wanted to promote in Russia, a place where she possibly hates too.
