Just Another Day lyrical meaning?

What are your thoughts as to what the various lyrics mean in this song? :oprah:

Was discussing this was my cohort @Avenues

Personally, up until the line, it reads to me as someone who is suffering from overreacting/anxiety, especially within their relationship. But then I get lost after that. :selena:

"Yeah man, play that New York drum, Homer
Show 'em how we do it! Downtown"

Just another way to prove I love you
And it's hard today
I'll lay back in my chair and find a way
And when you say that thing that you say
That makes me mad
I'll turn away, I'll turn away, I'll turn away

And think of different ways to keep my spirits up
And choreograph hours with playful, joyous thoughts

We both know I could learn a thing or two
About relaxing, hey, I love you
And after all, it's just another day

Oh, I could use some two or three
Or other kind of ways to be
But today I won't be so hard on me
I'll walk alone down a different street
And smile at all the new strange I meet

__________________________________________________

And pick up unique style, I'll kick around today
And create simple thoughts, I'll laugh in humble ways

We both know I could learn a thing or two
About behaving, but I love you
And after all, it's just another day

Come on, Mark

Ladies and gentlemen, Brian Newman

We both know I could learn a thing or two
About behaving, but I love you
And after all, it's just another day

And after all
It's just another day

To be honest, I think much of Joanne is about the fans, and Just Another Day is also a reflection on her relationship with Little Monsters... ya, it could also be linked to her anxiety etc. however re-read the lyrics, and think about as if she was singing those words to you, the fan, the little monster, about you.. it could bring a whole new meaning to the song. I strongly believe JAD is about us  :trollga:

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

Well yeah it's just an uplifting song about stopping being mad for nothing and being happy instead

to me it's about things not being as bad as they seem to be. and even when everything seems like sh*t there are little bursts of happiness to be found by changing your attitude a little bit or walking down an unfamiliar street and discovering all the little things that make life good. like for example down the street you see another person walking down the same street, perhaps just like you, just enjoying their surroundings, and you feel a camaraderie with them that you're both doing this thing together, and it's something to feel good about.

edit:

and the day brings good things and bad things, it's not the end of the world, it's just another day :D

REALITY

I never actually thought about and processed the lyrics behind the song, but reading the O.P. about how it could be about someone who suffers from anxiety in a relationship, it sort of skewed my perspective of the song. Interesting...

I think the song is actually a very sad thing in light of Taylor and her’s breakup. She’s trying really hard to make things work and it’s bringing her down. Eventually, as with what happened in life, she has to just let go and accept things as they come so that she’ll be happier. It’s funny how some of the lyrics are so unlike the melody of the song :laughga:

I personally believe this is the most well-thought lyrics she has written for this album. for some reason, I just think they are pure gold. I always imagine this song being about her and Taylor, and how she tries to make things work but gets mad and frustrated, but ultimately decided that she won't let it affect her. Its another example at how ingenious and crafty Gaga is by disguising an actually darkish sad meaning with upbeat and uplifting sounds.

I honestly believe its about everything she experienced when she wrote Joanne the song is kind of like a realization at the end of the album. Everything she felt and shared on the album comes full circle. The abuse she experienced, the heartbreak she went through, the state of the world she sadly can’t do anything about, and of course the grief her family went through. She realizes that things will keep on happening in her life whether good or bad but she won’t be sad or frustrated because after all it’s just another day. Her best album closer tbh

I always wonder what the thing is that he repeats to her that makes her mad. “And when you say that thing that you say that makes me mad, I’ll turn away.”

theres so much secrecy behind hers and Taylor’s relationship/break-up but I speculate that he wanted to have a family and would nag at her about it or something idk

u think so?

That is possible, but when they were together she often mentioned (in interviews) that she really wants a family of her own etc.... Maybe he wanted it ASAP, and she was just like 'let's just wait until after this album bbi' , and he was like 'no gaga NOW', and she wrote this song :derpga:

I think the song is about stopping the disturbing guy in the bar. :interestinga:
Maybe she is still secretly talking about sexual abuse. like Bad romance , alejandro , do what u want , swine , marry the night

You might be right about JAD being about LM's, but what's sure is that perfect illusion is completely about us anyway
