Hi.

I'm having a meltdown being a Gaga fan so sorry for my bad ressentments.

One of the issues I have with Gaga, with her releasing such a tiny amount of musics but also teasing way too much

is the fact that she almost never do real studio duets, with real relevant artist from our times (and not people that were a thing decades ago, even if they are talented)

Why does Gaga almost do no relevant duets?

When you know that half of the industry is a big stan of her?

I don't know why but I feel like she might have refused a lot of them. I think about DJ, Popstars, Rappers (except for Kendrick)... Not a duet hit for 5 years when Rihanna had like 10 smashing duets in 2017.

Please explain.

And know that I love you. And Gaga... 2018 Gaga needs to f*** me good.

She’s always said she prefers to be in the studio with the artist to craft the song.

Unfortunately that’s not how things are really done in the mainstream pop world. People are sent songs to add verses to, and they never meet and collaborate with the artist they’re featuring with, which is what Gaga is against, since she wants an artistic experience.

I’d love her to do more duets too, but I respect her wanting authenticity.

I didn't know this point of view she expressed and I like it.

But honestly, if someone sends her a smash, a song that would make all her fanbase and GP enjoy, it's just strange and not always the right choice to me.

God no. If she starts doing songs with every generic rapper and artist just for sales, it'll seriously effect my view on her (although I wouldn't straight up unstan no matter what.)

More duets like Hey Girl, would be great. With non-generic, talented artists.

I don't like features just for the sake of having features so I like that she does her stuff mostly solo. The collabs and features are way too much and I'm honestly tired of them.

I think a lot of the time, any request collaborations sent to her are probably flat out denied or ignored, maybe before they even reach her, since she wants that authentic collaboration.

I’m sure if was down to her label, she’d be collaborating with lots of DJ’s and so on, but since she runs the ship, it’s down to her.

Realistically she’d never be working with BloodPop as she is currently, but since she worked with him during Joanne and knows him and his style, she is doing. If she had the luxury to get to know all of her collaborators, I’m sure she’d work with more people, but for now, it’s going to be rare.

I think she said that she hates "collabing" as in "send me your verse per e-mail, my producer will try to make it work somehow", which I think it’s pretty common in the music industy. She prefers the process like with Florence when she was actually in the studio making Hey Girl.

I don’t think her voice is that suited fir duets. Her voice shines best solo or with Tony Benett. (Not a C2C fan at all. Listened to the album for the first time while decorating the tree)

Okay Guys, I get this "artistic experience" thing.

But honestly, tell me you wouldn't have love heard her everywhere on Feels or This is what you came for by Calvin Harris or Perfect by Ed or Loyalty by Kendrick? And the list goes on and on... She's like the one big popstar that never does smashing duets... Songs that stays in the GP's mind except for Telephone which is 8 years old.

Let's not beat around the bush. She's stubborn.

Gaga loves being in control of her art & collaborations mean she's sharing that 'control', I don't think she particularly wants that. I would however like to see some collabs now and then...maybe while she's between album cycles.

Tbh I think she will eventually do insta-collabs when being throwaway and superficial is part of the era. She almost delved into that zone before but not quite.

Until then I'd prefer her to keep choosing artistic quality over radio.

I hate this idea that there is the "good" and the "evil".

Her making duets with relevant artist won't turn her into a cash cow if it's well made. She just has to find a good balance about it, not being a Nicki Minaj that goes onto everything & lost her solo career... but not being the ghost that she is right now!

I believe that hearing her on some "I don't wanna live forever", "Feels", "Loyalty", "What lovers do" would have made 90% of this fanbase and 90% of the GP happy and enjoy her voice again. A good duet per year won't make her a sell out.

I feel like she has done good with her choice of collaborations so far. I don't want her joining forces with every new and hot artist to stay relevant.

I think that some collaborations are gimmicks to sell more, which Gaga isn't really about. Some artists don't really care who appears on their songs, just as long as it is the flavor of the month. Collaborating for the sake of spectacle for the sales really cheapens the song to me, and is not necessary for the song.

Also, I think Gaga is confident enough that she could do it on her own without the help of other celebrity artists. For example, the Super Bowl didn't have any featured artists because she knew she could kill it on her own merits. I think she doesn't need the help of other celebrities to make a  stronger.

Finally, is it just me or is the "featuring" a new-ish thing? Like I can't think of many examples in the 80's or 90's where artists threw a "featuring so&so" into their song. I think maybe Gaga is just inspired by those who influence her, and she doesn't do it because they didn't?

Though I do believe duets can be really great, I just don't think they are usually that necessary, and sometimes are very cringeworthy.

David Bowie & Queen- Awesome collaboration

Katy Perry ft. Migos- Not so much

To be honest, I think she feels its a bit shallow just to ask another artist to email over a verse for a collab. I think its as much about not giving into that rent-a-rapper, get-a-hit style of pop writing as it is anything else. I doubt its a coincidence Telephone is her least favourite, and she hasn't sung Do What You Want since the ARTPOP era...

Gaga isn't thirsty for the hits... and therefore only collaborates when she really wants to, hence we don't get that many features. At least when we do they're (mostly) great.
