If we're talking about Rainbow, no. Kesha's roots are in country music, she grew up on it living in Nashville, her mom even wrote for Dolly Parton. I'm sure Kesha would've always had tinges of country and rock in her music if it weren't for the image forced on her. Joanne could've helped push her to do it and show her that her genre indeed can be successful, but it definitely wasn't a case of her taking concepts as her own for a gimmick. Not at all.

With Miley, maybe. I love her more country side but this does seem sudden and not completely genuine. But I'm not sure.

With JT, I have no idea, I avoid him tbh.

Overall, yes. Gaga is setting a trend and I suspect "stripped-down" country-rock-pop will continue getting bigger, but none of it being as genuine and full of heart and soul as Rainbow and Joanne.

I don't usually agree on 'everyone copies Gaga' but this one is obviously a yes.

And I'm happy some did

Why?

I don't like what he did to Britney, he destroyed Janet's career, and even if none of that happened, I just personally don't care for his music, personality or voice.

Gaga has always been showing artists that switching it up every now and then won't make you flop and will actually benefit you

While I do think that Joanne might have inspired Miley to think about the Younger Now era, I think her situation is like Kesha's. She grew up with country and rock music, I mean, her dad is Billy Ray Cyrus.

OT:  I don't know, perhaps? I feel like with Kesha, she wanted to make a stripped-down album after the whole scandal with Dr. Luke to show people that she can really sing and that she really is an artist. With Miley, maybe she just wanted to head back to her roots—I mean, after the Bangerz and Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz eras, I think it was good to take a step back. WIth Harry, I feel like that's just always been his style, except when he was in 1D he had to conform to whatever the company wanted. I don't know much about JT; I don't really know his past. I don't know if there's been a time where he was really in tune with his upbringing.

We also have to remember though that albums take time to work through. I don't think that all of these artists consciously looked at Joanne and were like "Yes, this needs to be what I need to do for the next album." Perhaps it's coincidental, as @FfFfFfFF said, maybe she predicted a trend rather than starting one.

You are definitely right, I just wasn't thinking. Miley either did Bangerz era stuff to escape her Disney image, because her label wanted her to, or because she simply wanted to explore a different side of herself. And I do fully support both sides of her.

I said predicted because I don't know if Joanne had enough exposure to make other artists take this path, but I think Gaga knew this type of music/ aesthetic is going to be a thing. Gaga being the first one to embrace this makes it right to thinkof Gaga as a trendsetter.

I think in a broad way, yes. Like, I don't think she outright pioneered or spearheaded it, but I think she was definitely one factor among many in making it a little more palatable.
