So she used "love songs" as a way of more simply conveying the complexities and metaphors she was trying to communicate. Take Speechless, for example. Nowhere in that song does she mention her dad, but when you hear her say that it's about him it makes sense. She just wrote the song in a way that others can relate to better as well as keeping in mind that she's a pop star and trying to keep her work within certain parameters. The only song that needed work to make sense was Telephone, but I think this was less a case of just shoving it in and more of, she saw how this song she wrote years before made sense within the body of work she was crafting. Ugh. I love what you are saying, oh my god.

Frankly, I think it was broadly about guys in her life that she keeps ruining herself in love with and her dad can be included in that. She may have used Luc in the metaphorical sense or as a person to write it through because keep in mind she wasn't comfortable writing about her family yet at this point, but that the impetus to write the song was her father. Like, he was the spark that got her to write the song and then it made her reflect on her similar relationships with men in her life since we know and she's said she dates guys like her father. The obvious choice of who she'd turn into subject matter being Luc as that was a very turbulent relationship. 4 hours ago, Doot said: Ugh. I love what you are saying, oh my god.
