Here are my instructions on how to do this. (I’m a photography student)

1. Import photo into photoshop 

2. Unlock the layer from background 

3. Right click and convert the object to a smart object 

4. Use the quick mask tool and mask out her hair. Then hit the button above that says select and mask 

5. Change “View” to a red background so it’s easier to see 

6. Use Edge Detection to mask put her hair and use Shift Edge of mask it out nicely. Then hit okay. 

7. For pink hair or such go down to the bottom of the layer area and hit the circle button that’s half filled while the hair is still selected. Then hit Hue/ saturation 

8. Your selection would have gone away as now you’ve made a mask. Click “Colorize” in the properties tab and then shift the hue slider to change the colour of her hair.

Sorry about the black. I couldn't get it to look very good so I had to just go with black and white.
