After hearing that Carino set up this whole residency thing :madge:

gurl :madge:

I begin to hope that he is not one of those celebrity boyfriends/partners/husbands who are harmful for their career :madge:

I mean, Gaga is one of the least people to need a residency right now :madge:

But if she really loves him then go ahead I guess :madge:

I think that’s the point, though. She’s doing what she wants because she can and not because she “needs” it by any means. Even if she does, the last time she did that people had an overwhelmingly positive reception to it (C2C) so I think her doing what she wants is always the best move for her. It’s when she does stuff that she doesn’t want that it sucks (Eau de Gaga)

plus gaga will be all over the world during her residency, imo

she's in the middle of making a record and the residency takes up 10% of the year, so it's clear as day she'll be out and about promoting LG6 through vegas as well as anywhere they've planned

What will be the reasons whether this residency is a good thing or not are:

1. How are they going to do the shows? She has approximately 37 shows a year, does that mean she's do 7 then a break, another 7 another break or??? 5? 10?

2. What will she do during those breaks? Promote the album which is hopefully and reasonably coming before the residency or just vanish? If she's promoting during the breaks and maybe even tour the album then great, but if she just drops it and then does 37 shows in Vegas and nothing else for it, eek sis.... :awkney:

Let’s not underestimate how much Beyoncé’s marriage to Jay-Z has helped sustain her relevance. I’m not saying she isn’t worthy in her own right, but it’s impossible to gauge where she would be today without that aspect of her overall appeal and credibility.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but I think her marriage helped her early on moreso. Today, she eclipsed him by far.

He did give her that street cred and cool factor that is playing dividends today. But I feel she would have had that anyway with the type of music she does (eg Rihanna)

Also do people even know who JayZ is overseas?

Unfortunately Britney is a fantastic dancer/performer, but not a great vocalist (though I understand some would disagree). She can't adapt as well as someone like Beyonce, Pink, or Gaga to the changing music scene.

But couldn't the same be said for Madonna and she adapted to changing trends. Plus Britney did do well during the mid 2000s which was basically a different music era compared to when she came out.

Beyonce and Pink put actual thought and craftsmanship into their work tho.

Britneys last few albums feel very much like "oh I need to get an album out by next week, let's call some producers" :nails:

I guess that's true too. But I still don't know if that should matter as much. Her name alone should have still given her at least a #1 debut for Billie Jean. Wasn't the album released shortly after the Vegas announcement, meaning her name was as talked about as ever.

A lot of us are worried because of the stigma of doing a Vegas residency. It has historically been a place for artists to "retire". Britney was basically the first young and relevant star to do it. But her commercial career has tanked since doing it. Can this happen to Gaga? If not, why?

"Since"?? You're getting the chronology wrong.

honestly, i think it's safe to say this record is coming and there WILL be new music in 2018 but will it be the whole album or just the lead single to kick off the show along with the era? that's one thing i'm uncertain about

another thing i'm uncertain about is how the dates will be set up but i feel a legs set up will be most likely

they've been working too long to suddenly say "welp, she has a residency now, lets delete it all and start again in 2020", that's just time and money wasted (why would the label even allow that? they would put their foot down) so it was either a case of the residency gets done all at once (over a couple of months) so she can start LG6 in 2019 or it gets stretched over a long distance of time, allowing her lots of free time to dip in and out of Vegas and probably spend more time global

since they're decided to spread it over 2 years, it means the residency and the album cycle are intertwining to compliment each other and if they REALLY want, the show can slowly evolve along with the album cycle

i think this also debunks that she'll be taking a full rest (at least for the first year) in her breaks, britney was fully able to your asia during her residency breaks so why can't gaga? her breaks will be dedicated to downtime AND promotion imo

but i could also be totally wrong and she totally decides to put LG6 on hold and retire until 2020 :selena: but that just isn't realistic in my eyes. i mean, 90% of the year to do nothing?

As long as Gaga doesn't rush-release an album for Vegas promo where her producers use someone else for 40% of the lead vocals, we'll be fine. :toofunny:

Its true. I can’t really speak to Madonna because I am not a fan and don’t know much about her career, But Britney lost momentum for some reason. I think Britney’s fanbase outgrew her like I said before, whereas Madonna has maintained hers. Madonna also has an innate artistry and vision (like Gaga does) that is executed whereas Britney doesn’t. Madonna is an artist whereas Britney is mainly a performer.

It could happen to Gaga but Britney's case has nothing to do with it.

Britneys main problems were **** management and laziness. If Gaga avoids those two, she should be fine.

That is true. It's not really the vocals, it's the fact that she is mostly a product of someone else's vision. That is one issue Gaga won't have.

There is still that stigma with Vegas though. Will radio play music from a vegas act? Does she even need radio? Beyonce didn't for Lemonade for example.
