Everyone is so defensive and gets so mad when people criticise their favs but they are also the first to be awful about another artist when they make a mistake or "flop." It's great to have opinions and share in the fun of pop music but some people are just terrible with it. A lot of it seems tied up in what other people/stan bases/the GP will think about what the artist is doing, when really you should just be enjoying it for yourself - it's a much more rewarding experience. I've been that person to get mad when people diss Gaga, or to fret about charts, or worry about how other people will talk about her, and it sucks the enjoyment out of everything. Who cares if some tween on Twitter is mocking Gaga over the residency (for example)? Gaga is killing it with everything right now and she'll continue to do so for decades to come. Journalists, other fan sites, and people on social media will make sure the public sees that. What's the public to think about Gaga if her own fans drag her? Stanning for an artist as creative as Gaga isn't easy. Her creativity wants her to break out her shell and explore new things. Her creative mind doesn't allow for being tied to what she did in the past. Her creative mind wants her to break free of her chains, and try everything she can. While she may pay homage to past eras, her mind is way into the future and she dreams of things we can't even imagine. So she will continue to surprise. Tony once said Gaga may be America's Picasso. He was taking about creativity that comes along once in a lifetime. Her talent seems boundless, so the possibilities for her future are endless. Those willing to follow are in for a wild ride.
