I alread posted this in the correct topic in the new section, but I figured it was worth it's own thread so it doesn't get lost.

I've seen monsters post the news that Gaga is #3 top global searched musician for 2017 and the haters are responding with "But Superbowl" or "Beyonce or Madonna were #1 on their years"

As you can see by my research, they are WRONG.

This is the first time this decade that a half time performer is a top 3 most searched musician.

All the people who are saying "because of Superbowl" or "Madonna and Beyonce were #1 on their years" are WRONG.

In fact, nevermind top 3, no other halftime performer made the TOP 10 Except in 2012, LMFAO were #10 after performing with Madonna at the Superbowl.

This is GLOBAL by the way. Perhaps USA tells a different story. Maybe if I have time tomorrow I'll look through the receipts for USA.

What's even more surprising is that during Madonna's year, her guest act was more searched.

And even more surprising, in 2013 Beyonce performed AND released that album that "broke the internet" yet she is didn't make top 10 that year.

Again, perhaps USA tells a different story, but for Global, Lady Gaga may have benefited from the Superbowl, but it's not like the Superbowl was helping people every year.

Lmfao were huge in 2011 with Party Rock Anthem and Sexy and I Know It, Beyoncé didn’t release her self titled album until very late into 2013, but interesting observation op :lolly:

Uh Red Wine... Convict... Gah Gah...

The only thing that's not consistent in this, is that some years (2013 for example) Google grouped all entertainers together, and some years they ranked just musicians.

However, in 2013, Robin Thick, Miley Cyrus, and Daft Punk were the only musicians on the "performing artist list".

In 2009 the 10th highest trending search under 'entertainment' was "poker face lyrics" :diane:
