But most animals you listed are at least semi-domesticated. Monkeys as pets are rather uncommon

Yeah I don't know much about looking after monkeys, I know birds like macaws are very difficult for the average person to to look after because of their intelligence for one thing, so I imagine a monkey would be as bad or worse

Do you feel him sir?

Monkeys are not meant to be pets. They are too smart, need constant attention, are messy and dirty, are agressive, need a special diet, need special facilities and need a lot of training to act okish in a not usual environment.

Dogs and cats have evolved to be pets and are mentally prepared for that.

A monkey is just about to live a long (20 -40 years) sad and frustrated life.

I don't think any animal should be domesticated...

"household pet" ... right.

don't blame Chris brown when you have a Anthropocentrist behavior yourself

Yes household pet as in your pet would die if it was left alone in the forest, while a monkey can't be a pet.

You don't have humans as pets either, and we are animals too.

Not all cute animals can be pets.

Do you think that it's natural that animals are human-dependent ?

Thousands of years of human-centered philosophie did wonders I see ^_^

It isn't, doesn't change the fact that they are though :bon:

Maybe we should not only condamn Chris Brown then, but also rethink our relationship to all kind of domesticity. :bon:

a lot of species depend on other species for certain things such as survival

for example: one species of fish help keep a sharks scales clean and in return, the sharks offer them protection from predators meaning the little fish depend on the shark to stay alive

it's not a perfect example, but species relying on other species in the wild is a thing

plus in todays world, dogs and cats would not survive in the wild at all and it would be wrong to just let them go free

I don't want to argue but

Cats literally domesticated themselves to get easy food

https://relay.nationalgeographic.com/proxy/distribution/public/amp/2017/06/domesticated-cats-dna-genetics-pets-science

And alot of animals self-domesticate themselves for a better life

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-domestication?wprov=sfla1

But on the Original Topic I can only hope the monkey does not suffer. Humans can be so selfish at times.

Edit : Even Dogs domesticated themselves before we made the move

Besides, that child is in danger. A monkey can transfer pretty nasty diseases to humans and vice versa.
