I had to pause a lot of times because it was so moving and i couldn't handle myself lol For the intimate scenes for me yes it does work. It builds up the anticipation. But sometimes it feels a bit unecessary.

I read in a couple of book reviews that the author was adapting a "proustian" style for the book (memory triggers and indulgence in super long sentences) and in my opinion it made the whole book stand out to me.
