A buzz single it's a song which wasn't officially released as a single but was used for promo or performed at some events (John Wayne).

Perfect Illusion was officially released as a single so it's a single.

Perfect Illusion was the lead and is the lead. You can't just change things because another song becomes more popular.

It might have been the wrong choice (not according to me, though) but it was made.

It's loud and too rock for some people, especially for the radio. :selena:

How is Perfect Illusion rock? :selena:

I love it when Gaga goes rock but I don't like PI. Unstructured, too much repetition and a lukewarm instrumental. With vocals like these the song should've been all-out lyrically and instrumentally, but to me it just falls flat.

PI is clearly dance-rock/ pop darling.:selena:

I just think she didn’t promote it because you see how she struggles in performing that song live

Perfect Illusion was a disastrous single choice, it's pretty much the worst song on Joanne.

when PI came out I listen to it once, twice and bought it 20 times.

i hooked all my friends on it. always dropping hints, sending them snippets and playing it non-stop.

my crush liked the song as well. a reggae and techno listener enjoyed PI and MR.

I still listen to PI to this day, because PI is what? Relatable.

Joanne as a whole is relatable. The instrumental and general sound of the album aside, this is probably the first lead since BR that people can really relate to and that's more than where the song charted.

PI-haters can stay pressedT

how?

she literally did 0 promo, that's why it flopped. everyone said it was super catchy when it came out. remember all these radio hosts saying it was stuck in their head? well that's exactly what happened to all the people that I made listen to the song

It wasn't the promo. I mean, that played a part, but the song is super super loud and kind of storms through without building anything. By the time she does the key change, as one reviewer put it, "it's unearned". I like the song, but what I just wrote seems to be the general consensus from reviewers on it. That and that she over-sang the song for what it was. It was most definitely not a widely adored song; it was mixed in reception.

Again: how? :oprah:

There's a little bit of electric guitar in the intro, but most of it is some straight up synth pop.
