I think Lana Del Rey is a good example for successful album without successful singles (same with Bjork), and The Chainsmokers are an example for successful singles w/out a successful album

so...definitely albums for me

Good quality music. But out of those options I'd say album instead of singles. I prefer listening to a full body of work that I enjoy (Like Melodrama for example) than just a couple of really good singles and have the rest of the album be bad.

I'd rather have an ANTi (decent albums sales but nothing exceptional BUT with 3-4-5 songs you hear every single day) than a Lemonade (good sales ok good for Bey's wallet I guess but never hearing her on the radio or TV)

cause of death: gaga singing along perfect illusion on BBC Radio 1

There are many, many, many successful albums that don't have massively successful singles attached to them. ESPECIALLY in the streaming age. Just look at this year's Grammy noms for examples. SZA's Ctrl,  Awaken My Love Childish Gambino, Melodrama Lorde, 444 Jay Z. Huge streaming power with minimal single success (esp when it comes to radio)

what do you mean by at the back?

At the back means exactly at the back:giggle:

Id say that gags has had enough successful ALBUMS that an era full of more successful SINGLES wouldn't jeapordize much... However, overall a succesful album is more important then single i believe, and since gaga is intended on making the 'Immortal kind' of music id say shes going about her career stratigically with longevity. She'd rather be critically acclaimed then commercial although she lives for both. (I.e. Art and Pop)

Albums.... because a body of work needs to last fans and the GP in order for a era to have longevity and have an impact on an artists career...

Singles are just quick catchy tunes that fade after a couple of months and if they don't have a successful era...are considered flops and forgotten

Successful singles. Everybody remembers you for your songs (singles), not albums (except Madonna, Michael).

as a loving fan of Katy Perry's, I tell you:

I love Katheryn not for her singles, but for her music and loving personality

I adore Gaga for the same reasons

Why can't be celebrate ALL artist's successes and not trash them?
