It’s funny because I think Madonna is sometimes as spontaneous and loose at dancing as Gaga is while singing. 

And other times M is as strictly profesional while dancing as G is while belting out notes.

I already explained this to a Beyoncé fan but he couldn't see it. I don't know if he was just delusional or really couldn't see it. Honestly, it's just as when people explain vocal technique, I don't really understand the terms and what it means, and I admit I can't really hear bad singing techniques unless it's very obvious (oversinging, being really off-key...) because I don't know much about singing. I guess it's the same when you don't know much about dancing, you can't really tell.

Madonna is a fantastic dancer.

Open Your Heart at the Who's That Girl tour is a display of her showmanship. She is MOSTLY alone until the very end of the song.

 

Fever at the Girlie Show. VERY TECHNICAL! Like Gaga has a tantrum about, clothing removal has to be done at a specific time on a specific beat and take exACTly as long as rehearsed. THE GIRLIE SHOW HAS SOME OF THE MOST TECHNICAL CHOREO OF MADONNA'S CAREER.

I could go on, I could literally just drone on and on. Madonna is a more technical dancer, she's a trained ballet dancer since she was a child all the way til she was like 17.

 

Beyoncé is also incredible. She has an energy and cardio like an athlete. To be able to sing AND do what bey does. She's also a queen. In terms of dancing alone, Madonna is better. When paired with vocals Bey is better.

It’s not a very fair comparison as they aren’t doing styles even remotely similar to one another. However, I think Beyoncé is hands down better on the grounds of the difficult of the moves that she is doing compared to Madonna’s. I mean that in watch how Bey is moving isolated parts of her body as she dances that are difficult to isolate. That makes me think she could do Madge’s moves where I don’t think Madge could do Bey’s.

Also, the timing and technical precision of the Billboard performance alone sets her above the rest. That performance must have been incredibly difficult to time and she’s not with a troupe of dancers. It’s just her.

Also it’s kind of crazy how she doesn’t sweat doing that...I don’t get it...

EDIT: I’m basing this off of these videos where nothing Madonna did looked exceptionally difficult where some of Beyoncé’s really did.

Watching this I feel like it also warrants comparing beginning to end of a show because this looks like the end where she would understandably be heavier in her movement because she’s tired af. She doesn’t always dance like this because, yeah, this is very heavy lol

While it's true that Beyonce could pull of Madonna's modern choreography, I don't think she could do tango and waltz as well as Madonna, or anything close to the more classical genres... The body type also plays a big role in this, as Madonna is more slender and lighter

Madonna! Bey is a great dancer don’t get me wrong, but Madonna is just phenomenal, seriously! I think her moves are quite underrated especially in this generation. She has such diverse dance routines and always switches it up, unlike Bey.

Does she do that? Like I said, I’m basing it off of this video. But also that’s why I’m saying it’s hard to compare them. Like, Madonna could never do Beyoncé’s moves as, like you said, body type plays a role here. Hard to compare the two, really

Madonna. Let’s not forget she was 40+ (and even close to/over 50) in some of these videos. She was still a phenomenal dancer up until her 50s when she started becoming much less than excellent in every way (no shade).

Beyoncé is amazing too, but feels more generic and is always repeating stuff. She’s also a lot younger.

In the end - they’re both great, but I much prefer Madonna and think she’s a better dancer.
