While pondering the exotic spectacle of the Martian sunset, the CEO wondered: given there's such a thing as the Flat Earth Society (yep), why doesn't the Red Planet have its own equivalent?

"Why is there no Flat Mars Society!?" he tweeted, probably just to amuse himself and his followers, and likely never expecting to find a serious response.

According to whoever's handling tweets for the Flat Earth Society these days, there's a perfectly understandable explanation for why there's no Flat Mars Society, and it all comes down to science.

"Hi Elon, thanks for the question. Unlike the Earth, Mars has been observed to be round," the FES replied, "We hope you have a fantastic day!"

Not sure - I just deduced that he is stupid based on his posting behaviour and his attempts at making dupe accounts.

Most flat-earthers are not serious, they're joking and just having fun.  I have first-hand experience.

I like silly things, so I joined the Flat Earth Society based in London.  There are multiple Flat Earth Societies, but the one in London started back in the days when people actually believed the earth was flat.  I use my membership card and other things they sent as conversation pieces, it's all in fun.  Some of my twitter followers are flat-earthers and I was quizzed so they could make sure I was serious about the earth being flat.  I thought to myself "wait a minute, you're serious?"  The quiz was, "How is gravity produced on a flat earth?"  I gave them the theory of my Flat Earth Society:  "The earth is constantly accelerating up at a rate of 32 feet per second squared (or 9.8 meters per second squared), thus simulating gravity."  The twitter follower told me he knows of that theory, but his society has a different theory.

So you can see, people just make this stuff up and are having fun.  When someone asks, I will claim the earth is flat af.  If asked why, I say "The Earth is flat because I say it is!"

So don't worry about the flat-earthers.  Probably almost none of them are serious.  But they put on a good show, vigorously supporting their claims.   If anyone from the society in London reads this post, I will probably be banished for not acting serious.  Oh, well.
