What happened to Katy Perry?

Causes:

- The GP get's butthurt alot with celebrity opinions, so they didn't like her cheeky comments right from the start. (Britney hair, and so on..)

- The GP is very superficial with katy and didn't like her hair at all after CTTR.

- Her Youtube stream and live performances and Tv-appearances were cringey and the GP hated it.

- Her Swish Swish Video was the knockout. it was so ridiculous that even a Nicki collaboration didn't save her white ass.

It really is the hair though. Her image (mostly thanks to the hair) really didn't connect. She just looks like one of those soccer moms trying to be cool. There were other factors (music wasn't great, political climate we are in, more of a singles artist, etc) but the image was the biggest factor I think. She just looked so uncool.

I seriously wonder why didn't her team think of her image? Surely someone noticed how silly she looked?

Honestly Gaga's image didn't really connect either until the Superbowl pretty much reminded everyone how great she is.

Maybe it’s too rude to say, but I think she is made to be a mainstream artist who has to play only catchy or pop-commercial records to have an impact in the music industry and the radios. This time, she had chosen to make something different and she literally flopped. It’s not up to her figure (the way she changed his hair, or the new fashion style she adopted).. it’s only about music cause I’m sure that if she released a new Roar or a Teenage Dream 2.0, now she continued to stay on top of the world :bon:

she honestly needs to be cut some slack. the gel made some mistakes. that’s obvious. we should just move forward and fondly remember what we liked about the era, and forget what didn’t work out.

What r u talking about?

Here's the real TEA:

- CTTR was a very successful single, and was #4 on the Hot 100. (Not everyone has that to their credit)

-Bon Appétit is Iconic. It was #1 in France

- Swish Swish was a viral success

- Witness was #1 on BB200

- The Tour is a success

-She had a successful documentary about her successful life at the Witness World Wide House

- She is successful.

Witness should've done quite well singles wise, I'm surprised everything flopped like it did (album wise too).

I think there was a lack of buzz surrounding Bon Appetit and Swish Swish so no one besides from stan culture knew she'd released.

Sis...

Bon Appétit is NOT iconic and was in fact hated by the GP and her own fanbase.

-Swish Swish had views but wasn't that liked. Plus it was knocked off the trending list by the MV for LWYMMD

-Witness wasn't in #1 for long.

-The Tour is good, but the tickets are selling for really low.

-Successful documentary? It was a live stream lmao bye

-Meh.

I like her but this is not her era.

I think there was interest from the GP until they chose Bon Appetit as a single. It wasn't really liked. I heard swish swish in the radio a lot tho.

You talk like these small things (the Britney comment etc) and even supporting Hillary are gonna make the GP and Trump supporters go "Nope, I'm not buying this song because she did/said X". They don't think like that, just like gay people may be into Migos' music although they've been homophobic in the past. Trump supporters will still buy Katy's music if they enjoy her voice. So her material will flop if the GP dislikes the sound, not because of a small comment she made here and there, or if she supported Hillary.

What pissed me off here in the UK was the fact that Swish Swish was kept around on the radio for much longer than The Cure, despite both reaching a peak of #19. The Cure died off here in like a month or so but Swish Swish kept going up until like September..

That's cause Katy's team actually puts an effort in promoting:toofunny:

Gaga's team couldn't care less

Better single choices. Chained To The Rhythm was decent. Could you imagine Dancing With The Devil follow by Roulette!?

I feel like there must be some sort of battle between Perry and her label, or perhaps she just has trouble committing to a vision that is a bit of a departure from her earlier pop. Regardless, Witness, despite certain downfalls, remains her most interesting work in my opinion. It was her attempt to have a cohesive, experimental album. And for that alone, I find it a little more fun than most of her work. Witness, Roulette, Deja Vu, Power, Chained to the Rhythm,  Save as Draft and Pendulum are all good songs. Bon Apettit and Swish Swish are fun, guilty pleasures. It had promise, it just wasn't executed well.

I will say that I found the livestream interesting though...
