While I do agree that it wasn't terrible like some on here think it was, it definitely wasn't, in my opinion, anything to write home about. I do like some songs off it like: Hey Hey Hey, Mind Craze, Bon Appetite, Roulette, and Swish Swish, but 5 out of 15 tracks on the album is only 33% that I actually enjoy lol. I just found the majority of the record kind of boring and some songs felt like they just blended together. But, I mean I haven't really liked the majority of a Katy album since Teenage Dream, so I wasn't really surprised I wasn't too crazy about this one.

There's really not much to defend. It's just a mediocre pop album. Better than Prism, but not by much. Though, I was just listening to the bonus tracks for the first time today - I thought they were good enough to make the standard, so that's a shame. She tried to create something mature but failed deeply. She rarely seems to pull off serious music genuinely. Her serious stuff contains cringey lyrics, is bland and forgettable or both. I don't get why her ballads get so much praise as I always thought they were her weakest suit. The happy, tempo stuff suits her better. I just feel like she's lost her touch and is trying to be something she isn't and something the public don't want from her.

Finally, someone who agrees with me. The album is not bad at all, in fact it's pretty good. Better than L4L, Melodrama (:awkney:) and Reputation, which everyone praises them to heaven and back.

Oh, come on. Lana creates mature, lyrical music that Katy could only dream of making. She may not be to everyone's taste but to say a Katy Perry album is better than hers is sacrilege.

maybe it failed for you. I think it has quite good messages and experimental and daring themes. the majority of the GP won't get it. Prism is crammed with fillers. every song on Witness is different.

I don't know how you can be a Gaga fan and claim that Katy's experimenting with this album. It's a bit more daring for her standards but not by general standards. And I don't think the public didn't buy it because they didn't get it. It's not a hard album to understand. They didn't buy it because it wasn't that good. And every song on Witness is not different. Her ballads are interchangeable, for one thing. Songs like Witness, Miss You More, Bigger Than Me and Pendulum are definitely fillers as well. But granted, it's not as guilty of that as Prism was - there's still 2 songs on that album that I forget as soon as I've just finished listening to them.

This is her best album yet. It's still in my car's CD player. It still gets spins.

Being above a rotten piece of poop (Prism) isn’t really a compliment.

You obviously haven't heard the bop called Hey,Hey,Hey & Roulette :bon:

The rest of the album i don't care about :firega: it was on a discount so :bon:

Bone Apple Tea is a mess though

So is Chained Too The Smokers (feat. Skip Me)

Not too mention the mess that is her career :bon:

Witness, Roulette, and Power are about the only songs I allow myself to be exposed to

It does have its good songs and bad songs but I appreciate Katy's "experimental" growth on this. I agree on all of the tracks you mentioned. Chained To The Rhythm, Deja Vu, Tsunami and a couple of others are enjoyable.
