Yeah, I know not every aspect but it seems we r getting better in general

I can more or less agree

 

Much of the improvements now are happening in 3rd world and developing Nations tho

 

In developed world there is actually risingg income gaps for over 2 decades now, life expectancy hitting brick-walls kinda stuck at 80... over-all quality of life seems to have peaked for now

 

Also environmentally earth is in grave danger. While there is progress in renewable energy... theres other serious problems that arent discussed as much...

 

Top soil erosion, rainforest deforestations, plummeting marine life, coral reef eco-collapses

 

These issues are severe and threaten food and oxygen supply and well as important Ocean eco-system

 

For whatever reason CO2 emissions get all the environmental attention. But other major dangers were not progressing much in lurk around regardless

It's funny how many of you reject to believe that Earth is getting better. But when someone asks y'all support for him to become a leader of a proposed space nation, you'll laugh at it; says its unrealistic and stupid af; mentions that Earth is just fine.

I honestly think society is worse now than ever, there is a reason suicide rates are rising sharply in teenagers. I have no doubt people were living a lot happier before the uprise in technology.

They're not a normal part of life now. Your fear of them is vastly out of proportion to the actual threat, which is almost nil. That's my point. Some of the poorest countries on this planet are still recovering from natural disasters. A terroristic cult in the middle east is still trying to spread fear. There are still civil wars going on leading to people leaving their country to start somewhere else a new life, but some places/countries treat them like sh*t.  Yeah, this world's getting better

"Worse now then ever"? Worse than when slavery was legal? Worse than when "witches" were burnt at the stake?

They spun this as "Suicide Rates For Teen Boys And Girls Are Climbing", which is technically true, if you only look at the last few years of the graph. But based on the same data, you could just as truthfully say "Suicide Rates Way Down Since the 1990's", or, "Suicide Rates Comparable to 1970's Levels", depending on what you wanted to emphasize.

"Happier before the uprise in technology" -- I have every doubt. But, the reality is complicated. Some people are thrown out of work; others find whole new careers and opportunities they never could've had before. Drudgery declines, but some people don't know what to do with the free time. Etc.

But all of that has always happened and much much worse. Natural disasters were more devastating, with no machinery and ways to transport anything. Terrorist cults have always been there, just without the weaponry and communication channels of today. Civil wars and wars of oppression, conquest, independence, etc are gone, the American continent was built with wars. Refugees evacuations, all the time all over the world. Churches oppressing the most basic freedoms, just happens in a few places around the world, when it used to be everywhere. (Inquisition)

You have to realise that these events are becoming more isolated every day, and with the internet and with instant, unrestricted info outlets access, they feel so much bigger, and way more in the lead role of our current history.

The world isnt just better, is way better, but noone said its perfect, we still have a way to go, but we're getting there, the only thing that would stop us is a nuclear war

@Adakam I know that such things happened in the past. But if you see bad news every day it is hard to believe that this world is getting better .

Additionally, we're still polluting the environment and at these current times I have the impression noone's going to do something against it. Look at this latest climatic summit - or whatever it is called- which was held here in Germany last week or so. If I interpret the conclusion of this correctly, Germany just removed the date where they wanted to declare internal combustion engines prohibited from then on. I think we have to do a lot more to say 'this world's getting better' without a doubt.
