Quark 7,089
4 minutes ago, Interstellar said: Console games are never okay. If you’re paying $70-$100 for the game, it better be the full game. I think the only exception would be free games, such as App Store downloads and online game shops. Well by paying $70-$100, you are already paying more then the base game (which usually start at $60). So you are already paying more for a lot of extra stuff that could have been included in the base game.
MarryTheAngel 551
Microtransactions will stay. Should they exist? No. Wall Street demands more of these publishers so they're trying to get the most out of each game. Games are being built around micro transactions. Reality 73,786
I don't think micro-transactions are okay if they're used to further progress you in the game. If you need to pay more to get to a certain area or to become further your progress in the game, then I don't think it's okay. I agree with @robbiemalik in saying that Overwatch does it best I think micro-transactions are only okay if they're used for cosmetic stuff. If it's a skin for a character, or maybe something that helps to customize your profile, then I don't have a problem with that. I used to play a game when I was younger called DC Universe Online, and while I loved the concept and the lore of the game, I just couldn't play it because it was full of microtransactions. I mean, there were entire sections of the game that were unavailable to people if they didn't pay for it. It's awful, and while the game was free, I think that if they had just made all the future content free, and provided some amazing cosmetic options, then it wouldn't be a big deal. ᗰᗩYᕼEᗰ || 🦇👹🖤
bloody g 31,739
Based on what I've studied: When the game is free to play (i.e. Hearthstone, Smite, LoL, etc) or it needs a large team after months of release due to a large addition of extra content (Overwatch, PUBG, etc) Anything else is just greedy since the money off dlcs is enough. 『𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝』
Swando 300
I see it as being heavily dependant on a few factors: 1. Pricing of base game 2. Value of the store item you bought (can it be aqquired ingame, if so, how hard is it to get?). 3. Nature of said item (does it make you stronger than other players, or does it ‘just’ add convinience/something cosmetic). And last point. 4. Is it a game that continously gets updated or rarely if ever? I think you need to take all these things into account before judging if it’s okay for the game to have them. UWontUseMyMind 626
If I‘m paying for game $70 I don’t aspect micro-transactions. If I’m playing a Free-to-play full of micro-transactions I prefer paying for a full product than spending money with upgrades and useless skins. So is unacceptable that games that are supposed to be “full” has micro-transactions. I prefer paying for 1 to 3 DLC of $10/$15 for games that add new features to the gameplay or new worlds to explore if we’re talking about RPG than micro-transactions.
