This is nonsense:

Call Me By Your Name is hella problematic and reinforces notions that queer youth must sleep with older men as a method of entrance the gay world and thus expands the already ever-present predation of young queer boys. PROTECT OUR QUEER CHILDREN

That's like saying "Prayers for Bobby" reinforces the notion that gay kids with parents that don't accept them should kill themselves :laughga: This kind of age gap is a common thing in our community. Imo, it's mostly due to the pool of other gays being smaller than the ocean of straights. I don't think it's problematic really and this is actually legal in most U.S. states I think

Though they could've picked better actors :poot:

The 17 year old looks 13 and the 24 year old looks like he's in his late 30's :poot:

Also, I’m pissed. I’ve been dying to watch this ever since I read the book last winter and the “release” date is this Friday, but limited. I thought for sure it would be playing somewhere in Boston.

He is 17 but the adult is not.

:oprah::oprah::oprah::oprah::oprah: The part you bolded out is for 13 yos - the age of consent is 14. It rises to 16 if the he/she is having a relationship with someone that has an authority over him/her. The younger guy passed all of these ages (he's 17 :oprah:) so his relationship with the 24yo is non-problematic and legal. :oprah::oprah::oprah::oprah::oprah:

Girl, that's a Luca Guadagnino movie, not p*rn.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

SEXODUS

Age of consent is 14 in Italy so, yeah, legally you can make your own choices. It doesn't necessarily mean those choices are gonna be mature, rational or even critical. This said, hell, I don't trust my choices when it comes to relationships now that I'm 21. I probably won't 10 years from now either, so unless there's some serious proof of abuse (which there isn't, you might wanna read the book or see the movie before talking scheiße), there's nothing to discuss about here. Age wasn't relevant to the story /end thread.

There's hardly any abusive or pedophiliac penetration in this movie. Might wanna check it out first before going back to YP.
