Venezuela was gorgeous, and so was Thailand!  Too bad Thailand bombed the Q&A.  I think Philippines would’ve been the top 2 along with SA, but I feel like the pageant was groomed/rigged for SA (there were rumors that IMG wanted to crown an African country).

Hate the new format where there are only 4 contestants from each region.  It’s a horrible attempt at making the finalists more diverse and is actually unfair to other contestants who would’ve had a top preliminary score but was cut because their region is full.

Yeah it’s messed up, specially for countries where beauty pageants are not as big as others. USA, Venezuela and Philippines will always classify because ratings, so that leaves each region with only 3 slots.

Philippines were colonized by Spain though.

Yes. Colonized. :selena: Doesn't change the fact that Philippines are Asians. Philippines was also colonized by Americans. That doesn't make them caucasians :toofunny:

Sorry this is like, 20 pages back, but the Philippines has a really complex issue surrounding racial politics. The islands, before being mainly colonized by Spain, experienced a high amount of trade and travel diaspora (mostly from surrounding Asian and Pacific Islander regions). And then there was the Spanish invasion, and then localized United States colonization and militarization, and then a lot of concurrent globalized business and issues.

So no, not Caucasian at all (who said that omg), but Spanish has become so ingrained into the main Tagalog language. There's also so little conversation, in the Islands themselves, of colorism, racism, and why so many people who are revered and in power are white Filipinos.

Anyway... is Just Dance certified Diamond yet?

If Philippines reached the Q&A  she might've landed within the top3 considering her WINNING ANSWER in the national pageant. but idk, she lacks confidence and fierceness. she's too demure , out of the top3 South Africa is the most deserving

Good afternoon to all the fine folks of this thread on this Grammy nominations eve,

Here's a write-up for the Fuse from the guy who writes for Forbes -

GRAMMYS 2018 SONG OF THE YEAR PREDICTIONS: WHO WILL BE NOMINATED?

3 of 5: The most successful cut taken from Lady Gaga's Americana-themed Joanne, “Million Reasons” is exactly the type of song that those in the Recording Academy love to nominate. In fact, it sounds so much like GRAMMY bait, the pop star could actually end up taking this piece of gold home when the show returns next year.

Her backstory wasn’t all that great too.  I mean, compare her video about coffee on the beach or whatever to SA’s hostage story.  Philippines is too chill and relaxed, and didn’t show much of her personality.  I feel like her beauty camp molded her after Iris.  I prefer Aces & Queens when it comes to MU.  I don’t see what the judges saw in Colombia - they’re all overrated and their answers tend to mention being a Colombian and yada yada yada.  Talk about narcissism :awkney:

OT:  Can’t wait for the Grammy noms tomorrow
