Leeann Tweeden, who accused Democratic Sen. Al Franken of forcing her to kiss him and later groping her when they performed together at a 2006 USO show in Afghanistan, has commented on the Franken's reaction to her story in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper. “I'm not asking him to step down as senator,” Tweeden said. “I just wanted him to apologize to me for that.” She also said that she'd accepted both of Franken's apologies, and added that his second, longer statement "did seem heartfelt, and I believe it."

K cool perfect now we can move on a talk about issues that actually matter and/or actual serious sexual assault

This folks is how it's done.

Also, it is a false equivalency to compare this to many of the other high-profile cases about sexual assault that have come up in the news recently.

He groped her breats while she was asleep/unconscious. On top of practically forcing her to kiss him... There’s literal, actual photo evidence of him committing the act. We should just brush that under the rug because why??...

“Grab her by the ***.” Vs Grab her by the tits + documentation. What’s worse than the other? Neither.

The victim got what she wanted :poot:

If she wanted to pursue charges or impeachment, she'd be totally within her right to do so but she doesn't

What. Kind. Of. Excuse. Is. That?! So every victim that comes out against a predator is out to “get something?” Or “get what he/she wants?” WTF.

How can you interpret my post as saying that? :laughga:

If she doesn't want to press charges then charges won't be pressed :laughga:

If you can't detect the distinction and difference between them then that's your problem :reductive:

“The victim got what she wanted.” That right there is enough. That’s saying there is some kind of motive behind her coming forward. Some kind of agenda. So she got an apology. Many other people did too, yet those that offered it had their careers ruined. Because he apologized and she accepted, it’s just okay? Al Franken wants a committee to review his ethics. Let it happen. Let’s see where that goes. He molested an unconscious woman on camera. That’s enough and there’s no excuse. Period.

I’m curious, what is the difference? You have a man saying one thing, and another actually grabbing her by the tits (and who knows where else off camera while she was unconscious) on camera.

Well that's just ridiculous :rip: She's the victim, she calls the shots. Again, she doesn't want to press charges nor does she want him to be removed from office. She simply wanted a public acknowledgement and an apology, which she got. If the victim is satisfied then I'm fine with dropping it for a moment to focus on others who've committed objectively worse crimes with victims that haven't been satisfied with any results or haven't gotten results at all :rip:

Franken - One victim whose been satisfied yet he still wants an investigation to clear the air as much as possible. He himself handles the situation like an adult and takes full responsibility for his actions.

Moore - Molested children and women alike and yet is still denying the allegations, still running for senate (and probably winning), and fighting his detractors like a child.

Trump - Bragged about getting away with sexual assault, accused of child molestation, accused of rape and sexual assault by his first wife and at least 20 women, objectifie(s)(ed) his daughter, called avoiding STD's his "personal Vietnam", continues to deny the allegations and, like Moore, fights his detractors like a child.

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things isn't not as big of a problem :laughga: I'm not saying it should be forgotten and I doubt Franken will be re-elected (if he doesn't step down before then) because Democrats rarely tolerate that sh*t but the GOP senator and president's offences are objectively worse and they're objectively handling it worse. That's all.

As a victim of repeated sexual assault throughout my life, I empathize with these people and I hope they find the justice they desire.

If we lived in a perfect world Trump and Moore would not be elected officials due to their past sexual assaults. Their party would turn against them, demand they step down and the people would demand the same.

This is not okay  It's not funny to grope anyone while they are asleep.

Leeann Tweeden has said:

“You knew exactly what you were doing. You forcibly kissed me without my consent, grabbed my breasts while I was sleeping and had someone take a photo of you doing it, knowing I would see it later, and be ashamed,"

She also said:

"I’m not calling for him to step down. That’s not my place to say that."

She has the right to feel that way, she has the right to choose not to press charges. I don't think that gives Al Franken a free pass though. I think we can all still objectively see that what he did was unacceptable and make a judgment call that it shouldn't be accepted and that we don't want people who harass and assault women representing us and holding positions of power and influence.

I think people are still within their right to demand he resign for committing a violent crime (regardless of whether he was prosecuted for it) and abusing his position of power to make women feel unsafe. I think it should be seen as something despicable and as something disqualifying when it comes to holding office.

The photo shows his hands positioned over her 3 inch thick Kevlar vest

Who. Cares. The photo isn’t funny, but it’s not like it’s actual assault. There was no groping.

She literally agreed to kiss him every night in the show for months.

I’m more inclined to believe a great hardworking Senator about a KISS than a random person who parade around radio interviews all day yesterday

Not to mention she tipped Roger Stone off that the allegation was coming. He’s a vile Trump boy with ties to the Alt Right and Brietbart. Not a good sign.

That's actually untrue. You should look at the evidence instead of telling everyone about it and going off. "There’s literal, actual photo evidence of him" not actually groping her. And you also need to take into account the context of the situation. Pointing fingers and creating a different narrative won't help this. His actions were still uncalled for though.
