Why are some major stars skipping the AMAs this year?

A lot of stars that you'd really expect to be at the show aren't gonna be there. The most notable of these is Eminem and Taylor Swift. Taylor just dropped a new album and Eminem just dropped a new single (he performed at the EMAs). Kesha is also skipping the show.

I believe way more people watch the EMA’s than the AMA’s. I’ll have to look into it.

First place, I don't think there's any major and relevant award show in Europe besides the Cinema festivals. Those are

But EMA certainly is not very relevant. The country that hosts the ceremony tries to get some promo from it and artists from smaller countries try to get some promo from the nominations as well, but means basically nothing.

 

Europe's culture for these things really is quite different from the USA.
