He didn't just "produce for her". 1) He was the executive producer and had a hand in, I think, every song on ARTPOP to some extent and also put in years of his life to the album exclusively pretty much. 2) They're incredibly close friends and went through a lot of **** because of it. Shared trauma usually builds friendships super well, an if the behind the scenes **** was as bad as they both make it sound then I totally see why he talks about the record like this. It's not like he sees ARTPOP as his, but the experience of making it with Gaga is something him and her share very intimately because of all the drama around it.

That and the way Gaga makes it sound, their process is super collaborative. Like, it isn't her other producers (aside from maybe Mark). Her relationship with Paul means a lot as he points out in his tweets. Even in interviews, she name drops the producers she loves ALL THE TIME. The number of times she's talked about Ronson and White Shadow in interviews is crazy. It's pretty clear she doesn't really see her albums with them as solely 'hers'. It may be her name on the album, but I think with those guys she really sees the records as friends collaborating together and having the best time. It's a contributory effort. I think she sees it like a band effort where she's the front woman, but the rest of the band is just as important even if it isn't their name on everyone's mouths.
