To be able to sue for defamation, you have to be able to prove three things: (1) the lies that were said about the person were provable lies, (2) that a reasonable amount of people believed the lies (i.e. a majority of the population), and (3) you can prove the lies were made up on purpose in order to hurt them.

It must be hard to be such a calculated person and have things like this happen to you and remain silent rather than trying to actively fix them - or at least in the correct way by targeting the people who directly slander her with such claims.
