If the GOP are dumb enough to screw with Ā the middle class on this tax reform, you could see a turnover in 2018...but Trump isn't going to cause Republicans to stop voting for local and state elections. Republicans and conservative vote for anyone with an R by their name regardless of the reality of any situation. The brain drain going to Canada and other countries is not a positive for our science communities or for research. That impacts everyone, not just Republicans. It also isn't something that will turn around in two years. Stirring up bigots and racists create dangerous situations for the most vulnerable in our society.
