I don't think it's the norm.

Gender dysphoria is a mental illness, so they're not wrong.

Not all conservatives support Trump.

but are you a trump supporter? :oprah:

You're coming in here and making inflammatory comments about liberals, talking about how it's redundant to paint us as sexual predatory because we're all already bad enough.

At this point you are just a straight up troll on this site.

Only you and f*cking Goosey could come into a thread where conservatives targeted peaceful liberal protestors (who were protesting sexual f*cking violence) and turn the narrative into why liberals suck.

This is a f*cking joke. You're not going to see conservatives protest sexual violence because they don't give a sh*t, and you're certainly not going to see conservatives protest to defend the rights of minorities or trans people because - guess what - they don't give a sh*t.

You're in here trolling to turning the narrative against the protestors who were targeted and yet you have the audacity to act like you're above the negativity and identity politics when other people bring up your gender identity?

They elected a GODDAM SEXUAL PREDATOR president of the united states! Like JESUS! The man defended NAZIS and Chic is still wearing a MAGA hat this October?

@Chic That's downright shameful. It's one thing to be a conservative, but a Trump supporter? At a time when he's spiraling into sh*t and dragging the country down with him? That's a disgrace.

Anyway, I'm having trouble understanding  I skimmed through the article (probably where I went wrong), what exact proof do they have that this was not an actual poster the protesters were holding up?

LONG, srry :(

Spoiler

this isn't an attack on you at all just some info for you from what i know as a student of politics. i just want to say that i don't agree with attacking people with opposing views, but i would like to get some insight on your perspective and view of the world and give you what i know so you can think about what's going on in US politics today.

i'm curious by what you mean by horrible policies?

first i'll mention that a blatant anti-LGBT policy propositioned by the right was just blocked in the last few days by the US supreme court, to give you a recent example of the political landscape now and where the right stands.

the progressive left is and has been the champion of LGBT progress, not the right, and i say progressive left because not so long ago the liberal center (aka the likes of barack obama and hillary clinton) were not pro marriage equality, which therefore means that, for the most part in recent history, the center, the right, and the far right have held at arms length the pro-LGBT positions regarding marriage equality that everybody "tolerates" today. and i use the word tolerate because i wouldn't put it past the right to abruptly adopt an anti marriage equality position considering the party in the last year has been all over the place ideologically since trump took power.

for me, when one examines the political spectrum, one can make some general insinuations regarding what they mean by the label: progressives (the far left and nowadays even the center at times) meaning change of the status quo, usually in terms of more social equality, economic equality, and so on, and as you move further to the right and on to the center, then on to the right, and finally to the far right, you see an increased value and regard for tradition and traditional values like, say, traditional marriage between man and woman to continue with my LGBT example. in other words, as you move further to the right, you will find more people who espouse traditional marriage between man and woman rather than "love is love" if you will. you kind of go back in time by measure of values as you move from left to right. i'll add that that is not to say that all traditional values are bad and that some are indeed worth keeping, but others like inequality, racism, homophobia should be lost.

now you have mentioned antifa, which, i think (though i'm not entirely sure) is a backlash to donald trump and trumpism much like how the tea party is a backlash to obama's progressive policies. antifa is a shortened name for the anti-fascists, meaning they purport to be against fascism and they show up, as far as i know, to beat back the demonstrations of the extremist right. i hazard to label them leftist extremists because it can equate them to the extremists on the far right which i believe is a false equivalence considering the former fights on behalf of equality and inclusion (though perhaps using questionable methods) and the other for hatred, nazism, anti-black, and white supremacy. i suspect that both might be peppered with anarchists and other ideologues who hate any kind of government altogether but i can't be certain. while antifa does employ questionable methods, their underlying principle isn't anywhere near the low level of the extremist right. there was a world war fighting against their ideas and values.

lastly you mention the left taking advantage of minority causes for votes and that might be true in some cases but i would argue that most of the progressive left actually believe in the values they support and take up. i think you imply that they pick up a cause and then don't bother to fight for it in congress and this is where things get complicated because there's money, special interests, lobbyists, and all of that that muddy politics and corrupt both sides. that being said, to pick up on your argument, there's a stark difference between ostensibly fighting for a cause and recognizing that it's a problem in our society than ignoring it altogether and pretending it doesn't exist and even actively fighting against it. then there's the issue of compromise in congress: for example, if one stands for a minority issue and one becomes a congressperson fighting for said issue, this person then theoretically must contend with a whole swath of people who might believe otherwise, who have been elected by people in other parts of the country, and by the mercy of the numbers can't actively do anything about it and so is seen by the public as being ineffective or disingenuous. this is also the case if this congress person makes a compromise with the opposition, taking a small step forward rather than a leap, and people see their elected official as some sort of a traitor. politics is an aggregation of baby steps and compromises; it's not getting everything you want tomorrow (which is partly why hillary lost).

sorry long so i'll stop but i can go more in depth if you like about whatever you want to know. i didn't go into PC stuff cause i told you about that before in another thread.

i'll end by saying that it's cool to be in one place and then change your mind when you see the evidence put out before you, i do that every day :D. i used to be pro civil union cause i didn't see the difference until a few years ago. people learn and grow as they get older (you're quite young, i'm 26) and it's ok to do that and i do it without shame. it's something to be proud of because it means you are open to better info and guide yourself by genuine informed principle rather than baseless staunch opposition.

Firstly, that's my father's hat. I didn't purchase it, I just wear it for photos. I don't agree with Trump on everything and I believe his behavior is often childish, I don't like some of his sexual comments in the past either.

I'm hardly a troll, I've been on GGD for 6 years now. I'll gladly respond to you because I have a point more than just "pissing you off". I do look after other trans people. I offer my support to them. I did not vote in the last election, I have never voted. Too many assumptions, not enough facts. Not a fan.

Please don't imply I'm economically illiterate when half of leftists support Bernie Sanders.

FYI, that picture was taken in August. I digress though, I support our president. He didn't defend Nazis, he claimed that there were some good people in the crowd during Charlottesville. Meaning those who came to protest leftists destroying history, not the KKK or white supremacists. I neither support nor condone the behavior of racists.

1. I don't agree with the left on gun control, immigration, economics, etc. They're horrible at managing money and often raise taxes to pay for useless, overpriced features in major cities. Bathrooms, art exhibits, monuments, etc. It's a waste.

2. Antifa is filled with violence, destruction, anarchy and chaos. They've hurt people and lit buildings on fire. They disgust me and the left apologizes for them because "hurr durr everyone should be anti fascist". Yeah, the pretty name doesn't fool me. They suck.

3.  I appreciate what the left has done for minority rights and denounce how they've hurt them and minority movements as well. I don't condone any racism or anti-minority views on the right.

4. The left is fighting to make unacceptable things acceptable. Laws are being made to force people to use certain speech. It makes trans people look horrible.

God, you just don't get it. Listen to me and understand me, former Trumpboy.

I do NOT condone the actions of the man being protested.

I DO condone the protestors and what they were protesting

I do NOT condone the actions of the conservatives planting those posters. It makes me sick.

I only mentioned that the far right doesn't need to make things up because there is enough material about the left to go around and they don't need to sink that low. I would say the same thing about the right. The left wouldn't need to make things up because the right ****s up enough that there's enough material and headlines to make. I wasn't trying to turn things around, I'm merely saying that I'm ashamed of one group because they somehow felt the need to make things up when they already feel the other group is enough of an issue as is. If they REALLY think they're that bad, the evidence against that group should be enough! Holy hell bruh.

I'm not a troll, how dare you?

I've made it clear I didn't know what they were protesting originally, you refuse to acknowledge that, so I'm going to ignore any lie you spread about how I "agree with" or "disagree with" the premise of the protested or the protestors.

Kay bro, we obviously have very different views on the majority of conservatives but alright. I respect your opinion.
