Most of the time, sexual assault isn't really just about the "sex" part or just... being "horny". It's mostly about power, feeling powerful by taking another person's power away/humiliating them. Otherwise those "HAHA YOU GOT F*CKING RAPED" jokes by 14 year olds playing co-op first person shooting games wouldn't make a lot of sense. (Imo at least.)

also to play devils advocate, from what I know all he did was lay on the boy, he didn't do anything more and they boy declined and he didn't pursue the kid. And it was 30 years ago

Well to be fair, that is is purely anecdotal and is not representative of anything and you can't generalize your own experiences to everything. I have seen this happen where a gay man does this to a woman, but nor does that represent the whole picture given it's only my own experience. 

 I try to refrain from having any opinion about what side, but due to the history of sexual assault and how systematic it has been with dismissing or outright blaming the victim, I try to be more intentional about not merely dismissing things like this out of hand. 

It's very tricky and difficult, but the important thing is we have a dialogue about how real sexual assault is, and to acknowledge and come to terms with the fact that it is a very real and present problem.  

Consent is what needs to be brought into this debate, and what every single person needs to start talking about.

Or better yet, and this is something I need to work on, not having an opinion at all about specific cases like this since we don't know all the facts. That's the thing, everyone feels the need to have an opinion about everything these days, when most of us don't have the knowledge or insight necessary to form an informed opinion and therefore don't get to have an opinion.

I did not have any opinion. I just asked ''Why would a gay man do this to a woman?'' as in ''why would a gay man want to touch her that way''. I am female and I don't want to touch any vaginas or boobs, not even in a ''joke''. Why? Cuz I am not into it. So again - I asked cuz I don't know why would a gay man do this to a woman not cuz I don't believe it. 

ALSO I said I never saw that kind of behavior around me.. I NEVER SAID - ''It never happens cuz I never see it happening''.  It is kinda rude of you to just assume what I wanted to say..

ALSO I said - ''It's weird'' - cuz it is weird that a gay man would want to do this to a woman.

He explicitly said in his apology that he has had sexual relationships with both men and women, and that he's CHOOSING to live his life as a gay man now. Basically he's bi but is currently participating in homosexual relationships exclusively, by choice.
