Morphine Prince 109,926
A total of 55 percent of whites said they believed discrimination against their own race existed in America today in a new poll conducted by NPR, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. But as NPR notes, fewer respondents could cite specific instances of this discrimination. Only nineteen percent of whites who were polled said they were discriminated against while applying for jobs, and 13 percent said the discrimination occurred when they were under consideration for a promotion. Just 11 percent said it was while they were applying to college or attending college, according to the poll. NPR explained that the results showed a correlation among white respondents between income and response, with those making less money believing discrimination was more rampant. Whites who were polled had the lowest percentage of affirmative responses, followed by Asian Americans at 61 percent. Comparatively, 92 percent of African Americans, 90 percent of people who identified as LGBTQ, 78 percent of Latinos, and 75 percent of Native Americans said discrimination existed against them. The survey consisted of 3,453 respondents, 902 of whom were white. It was conducted from January 26 to April 9. The margin of error was +/-4.7%. MJHolland 12,725
I mean is this surprising tho White Americans have been upset about discrimination in college admittance and hiring for years, and it's not exactly an unfair criticism I'm in charge of part of the hiring process at my firm and we pass up on hiring more qualified white candidates for objectively worse minority candidates to keep our "diversity hire" numbers "good"

FinnishGypsy 921
On behalf of all white people, I am sorry. For the entirety of our existence on this planet, we have been an entitled embarrassment, and apparently we also don't learn from our mistakes. I believe disadvantaged groups should be provided with the same opportunities as everyone else but don’t agree with practices like this where qualified people are stripped of opportunities either. I know right. Look at this whole "Oh, woe is me, I feel like I'm being discriminated against. Nevermind all the bad things we did to other minorities, but I feel like I'm being discriminated against because I'm white". 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔞𝔴𝔞𝔶 𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔪𝔞𝔰𝔨 𝔞𝔫𝔡...𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢 𝔴𝔞𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔢. Ok but the fact of the matter is that yes, affirmative action in hiring minorities does marginally help minority races by putting white people at an artificial disadvantage But that also has pissed white people off A LOT and it's made them elect people like Donald Trump So I'd say as a whole, it's not doing good things for the country

This is how polls are conducted. you still can't gauge the feelings and beliefs of the majority based upon those of the minority. This is how falsehood spreads, by reports like these and it generates panic and fuels misinformation and then moms see them on facebook and believe those percentages and then you never see the end of it.... Cuchulainn 3,040
I never trust these types of statistics. 'The survey consisted of 3,453 respondents, 902 of whom were white. It was conducted from January 26 to April 9. The margin of error was +/-4.7%.' Where was it conducted? Is this in Alabama or the deep south somewhere? Also the question was 'Generally speaking, do you believe there is or is not discrimination against (Respondent's own group identity) in America today?' There absolutely is discrimination against whites by some people. It doesn't mean it's the same type of discrimination as what blacks face. It also doesn't mean 'America discriminates whites' It says 'there is discrimination against whites IN America.'
