Catalonia really ****ed themselves up didn't they? What's the point of wanting independence if you can't organize your leaders?

So all Catalonia wanted was independence and decided to talk with the rest of the country, and this is how Spain handles it? Democracy is a lie.

Edit: considering the voting results were mostly favorable to 'yes', removing all autonomy from Catalonia should play juuuust fine :awkney:

Um do you know how low the voter turnout was? It was quite low so you can't really say a majority of the people said yes when not even a majority of them voted to begin with because they didn't want to vote for it. :awkney:

Or couldn't vote because they were scared? I've seen the images amd videos of Spanish police attacking innocents.

Plus many votes were intercepted

Yes but how could they have know that was how it was going to go down? They wouldn't have.

Many people reported they didn't vote because they didn't want to give the vote legitimacy and by participating they would offer it legitimacy.

Turnout was 43%, it failed all international standards for referendum’s turnout.

The voting results are invalid regardless cos it doesn’t get agreement from Spain as the main government here. They did those referendum without any talks beforehand, they organize those on their owen, it is illegal. Unlike voting happened in Scotland and  Quebec which referendum poll were happening after agreement from both parties (England and Scotland, Canada and Quebec), so don’t use democracy as defense when Catalonia didn’t respect it in the first place.

Well but they brought up an interesting point...

the vote was Nationally illegal... so many who supported Spains Autonomy chose not to vote because they didnt want to partake in it... in fact in the Portuguese news channel they interviewed some who said that very same thing

so the 90% vote in favour could be way off

This!!!! I just wrote about this above ^^^^^^^

As a result since most ppl who voted were the ones who supported independance and many who did not didnt vote as a result... the 90% in favour could be extremely off of the actual percentage of people who want independance
