The Hot100 charts was never a chart about sales. It's a popularity chart. they did the same to the bb200. Both are popularity charts. Why are they going to the trouble of weighing streams  based on ad content paid or YT.  Who cares? They can weigh the streaming chart or create separate charts to compare where the streams from the HOT100 formula or B200 formula are coming from then fine. But to have a complicated math equation for one chart is stupid. It takes away transparency.  So if you are an artist like Melanie Martinez who is big on YT you are somehow less than a big Spotify artist. Why? They are both streaming and actually there is more of an artform to be a big artist on YT.

also can you provide some links. to a real news source.

I'm here for the change. Still not happy with streamings heavy weight but this adjustment will DEFINITELY ruin hip-hops recent reign on the charts.

It's an iffy system though. It's like the popular vote vs electoral college.

We've seen how streaming can give certain artists a #1 even though they don't actually sell well. Streaming only benefits the trending artists. I don't care if physical sales are low. Unless physical sales start showing 2K units sold for #1 albums, then that should be the main chart.

Honestly this is true, because a couple weeks ago, an album was #2 with sales of 60k copies yet only 1k were actually sold. Like wth & so many great albums have had lower chart numbers but sold more, so many albums have also missed #1 debuts because other albums have higher streams and the majority of those streams end up coming from a single, rather than the parent album
