Picasso started as a "normal" painter, he painted realistic stuff, beautiful but it didn't stand out... And then, he created his own peculiar style and got famous for that. Gaga did the same, she learnt the basics of music and then did her own thing, not something classic but something that was different. In art, you have to know the rules before breaking them.
