JR Gg 12,985
https://www.romper.com/p/lady-gaga-snubbed-for-oscar-by-a-song-from-a-bond-movie-that-says-a-lot-6414 After giving perhaps one of the most important Oscars musical performances ever, Lady Gaga was snubbed for an Oscar that many assumed she would take home on Sunday night. The loss wouldn't be so awful if it wasn't for the fact that she lost to "The Writing's On The Wall," the theme from the James Bond movie, Spectre. Lady Gaga was nominated for Best Original Song along with Diane Warren for their song, "'Til It Happened To You" from the documentary The Hunting Ground.Despite the controversy surrounding the documentary itself, there's no denying the importance of the subject of campus sexual assault. Just minutes after being introduced by Vice President Joe Biden — who urged Oscars viewers to take the pledge to help stop sexual assault — and taking the stage with dozens of actual sexual assault survivors, Lady Gaga totally got snubbed in the worst possible way. Despite Oscar-winnerSam Smith raising awareness for LGBT rightsduring his acceptance speech, it's pretty messed up when the song about empowering rape survivors loses to a James Bond theme song because of, well, you know, the James Bond movie franchise in general; It's not exactly the paragon of women's empowerment in film. When you take a step back, beyond just loyal Lady Gaga fandom, it could easily be seen as a really pretty tasteless move on the part of the Academy. I came across this article just now and I cried again because I remembered the night Gaga and Diane were robbed of their rightful Oscars. All predictions were that Gaga was going to win. I quote, from Billboard: While the song’s potent message of resilience (and Gaga’s added star power) are undeniable and will definitely sway voters, only one song from a documentary has ever taken home the Oscar before: Melissa Etheridge’s “I Need To Wake Up” from An Inconvenient Truth in 2006. Regardless, voters may feel like the frequently nominated and well-liked Warren is due for an Oscar. So while it's impossible to predict anything with 100 percent certainty, the odds certainly favor Warren and Gaga at this point. There are many other articles predicting Gaga and Diane's win and I could not think of a reason how bad it went wrong. What came to my mind was Writing's On the Wall won the Golden Globes, thus Oscar voters just simply voted for that. Or maybe WOTW charted higher than TIHTY 71-95. Or simply because WOTW received more exposure as a Bond theme song. TITHY 100% should've won. My reasons: 1. The message behind the song is far more meaningful. A simple song conveying a complex message of sexual assault is far more beautiful than an Adele reject. 2. Songwriting-wise, TIHTY is more effective and powerful. Gaga's vocal delivery is strong and emotional while the piano and orchestral music complements the whole song well. WOTY tries hard to be the next Skyfall, but Samantha's weak delivery made it sound like a poor kitty crying for its mama. 3. Diane should not be snubbed 8 times in a row. This gurl deserved the Oscar already. 4. I quote Diane, "Gaga and I should have won the Academy Award, not Sam Smith." "That Sam Smith song from James Bond that no one really heard," Diane said. "You know, I think it was shocking to him as well. "I mean, I don't mean no one heard it. I think the fact is, my song is kind of, it had such a life of its own, and I think it'll last a long time." Let's all pray next year Gaga will not be snubbed for A Star Is Born. or else

Bio 23,538
Love Gaga and the song but she didn't write it. It will be better when she wins it for a song that's actually hers. It's coming.

Manta Rai should have won as a composition. And TIHTY is on songwriting merrits a pretty basic song. Though it's message is truly vastly superior to the other nominees.
