When Gaga positively shocked you

Before turning into a bitten cliche that somehow ridicules Gaga's work, shocking was once one of the first words to conjure up in public's mind when Lady Gaga was mentioned. It was probably the best concept to summarize the phenomenon of "Gaga-media-public" love triangle, where a pop star could still provoke public's reaction and atract their attention despite the era of speedy Internet, when websites offered any content and less and less things could be seen as "shocking".

I would love to dedicate this thread to those positively shocking moments which were ignited by her creative decisions, like performances, music videos, concerts, magazine and single/album covers, etc, and maybe fashion.

So the question is the following:

has there ever been a moment of your stan history when you thought that you knew/suspected/could guess what she was about to do, but then she would come up with something completely shocking for you, yet something you'd eventually love/enjoy?

Such moment for me is connected with her 2011 MTV VMA performance. So Gaga took a short break when she returned to USA from her Europea promo in summer 2011, and we were very excited when we found out she was filming the video for her new single in Nebraska. We were debating what the single would be and some of us literally believed it would be Scheiße, even though Gaga could not have given us a bigger hint than by choosing Nebraska as a set for her new video :selena:  And then her VMA campaign began, and we learned that she would be opening, and the anticipation of the performance began.

We were so hyped because of the video that was released before the show, which turned out to be surprisingly more creative and inventive than we expected (after The Edge of Glory, we were afraid she would spend the whole You and I video singing in a grainhouse). And then some twitter insider got to spread the false rumour, which said that Laurieann Gibson claimed that "something would come down from the ceiling" during Gaga's performance :selena: Even MTV believed in it:

Luckily though, Laurieanne Gibson, Gaga's friend and choreographer has some gemsabout Gaga's VMA performance! And by gems she means "something will come down from the ceiling." And that's about it. Come on!  - MTV NEWS

Because the mermaid themes from the scrapped original The Edge of Glory video were revived in You and I video, a lot of people believed that Laurieann's words meant that Yüyi the Mermaid could make it to the VMA stage and "come down from the ceiling".

So when the show began I saw this:

I remember that I thought: who is it? :gum:And when she began to speak, I held my breath and I was like "no way!":excited2: And I was like all attention, because I had no idea what was happening, because I expected she'd sing and she was delivering a monologue:noparty:, and I was lost, and couldn't help but think "what are you doing guurl":air:, and when she came to the piano, I thought "if she pulls it right, this will be her most iconic peace, f*ck yes, go for it:woohoo:!". And when the show ended, I felt like I've discovered a whole new dimension to her artistry :firega:

Do you have such moments?

The only time I remember being genuinely shocked was the Paparazzi VMA performance. The blood had me sh00k.

Honestly Sound of Music. 1) I didn't know she wasn't performing 2) I didn't know it was a medley; I thought it would be one song and be one of those things younwished would end 3) I knew she could sing greatly but not *that* greatly. I mean, her precision with which she entered and then building to and ending with this triumph in her voice. She really killed it like no other Oscar's performance had done for me.

Paparazzi MTV performance. :selena:

I'm mature and calm :sure: most of the times but the blood seamed real and disturbing.

Wait there is ''positively'' in the title, mess. In my defense I say that moment raise my interest in her.
